Help with exercise

I've recently been going for a bike ride for an hour everyday, plus doing various push-ups of a total of 100.
Should I be doing this everyday? I'm new to exercising and don't know how much I should be doing or when to take rests etc.
Some days I can go for long bike rides, and days after where I know I feel more fit, I won't be able to even go as long as the days before. Is this telling me I need to rest? Could it be lack of diet? I've changed my diet as I started exercising so could it be the diet too?
 
Rest is vital. If you have done intense exercise, it is best to have a day off before doing it again.
3 decent 1hour bike rides a week would be fine.
Of course if you desperately want to do more, you could do lower intensity on the in between days, so you wouldn't be pushing yourself too hard, more of a fun ride.

Also you do need to make sure your taking enough food, a good balance of carbs, protein and good fats.
