help slimming down butt/thighs?

I've been working out 4-5 times a week for the past few years and eating very healthy. I watch my calories and fat intake, but can't seem to get rid of my butt. :( I'm currently 5'4" and 117 lbs. I also have a little cellulite that I can't seem to get rid of, but I know that's probably going to be something I have to live with. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to slim down a bit? I've tried cardio and strength training, but my legs seem to get bulky when I use weights, so I've gone back to mostly cardio. Please help! :sad3:

Huh, looks pretty much perfect to me. Don't see the issue, don't change anything lol.

If you want to drop your body fat a few percentage points, then that's exactly what you will have to do in addition to dropping carbs and adding protein for a few weeks.

You need the "bulky muscle" to burn more fat and to keep the change long term. If you just do cardio, you will burn muscle and fat, but the fat will come right back when your metabolism slows down again.

I think your legs would look healthier with some additional muscle bulk. If you became any thinner, you would look anorexic and sickly.

The last bit of fat can be a bear to get off - more so for women and their thighs and butt. Things like adipose tissue blood flow, removal of fat from your upper body only to be parked on your lower body, hormonal and receptor levels/number, etc all work against stubburn fat.

I highly recommend Lyle McDonald's stubborn fat book. You can pick it up at .

Doing sprints- high intensity cardio with the weight training will do wonders. You can't get much off by doing steady state cardio.

Do lunges and squats with heavy weight. Do lots of those donkey kicks to the side and back. Good luck!

This ^^. I wouldn't go so far as to say that steady state won't do anything, but I've had great results with HIIT in the past. Other than that, spot on.

yeah....you look good, i dunno what fat you'r talking about, you are lean.
maybe gain a bit more muscle and it will look rounder, if that is what you are looking for.

but you dont have to lose any more fat...you'r lean.

and incase you start thinking you arent, you ARE.

so just build a bit more glute muscle and quads/hams by doing squats, lunges, hill sprints, goodmornings ect.

by the way, you look realy good. and incase you forgot, you'r LEANNNN

I'm afraid to drop carbs and up my protein too much because i've done it in the past and the weight/my butt just comes right back when i start eating anything with a carb. and i get really moody if i'm not careful about it. i'll definitely change my diet a little to see if it's manageable. hopefully it will help! i've been doing HIIT and lunges, but I'll start doing more with weight - as well as the other exercises mentioned - and see how it goes. you guys are right, muscle isn't a bad thing.

thank you everyone for the comments. i appreciate the suggestions... and compliments. lol

I would say you were pretty much perfect! Exactly how i'd like a woman to be anyway! But Iguess everything has wants and goals. So I would agree with what has been said about the sprint training. Increase the intensity of your workouts instead of the 'steady' cardio. The sprint training will probably also help with muscle tone at the same time too. How old are you out of interest?

thanks for the input! i usually do at least 30-35 minutes of intense cardio every workout... for instance when i'm on a treadmill, i do 2 minutes at an incline of 8, walking super fast. then 2 minutes at an incline of 3 running as fast as i can. my heart rate is usually in the high 170s when i'm running. i'll push myself a little harder and see if that works.

as for my age, i'm 26.

That all sounds good but I think you need to mix it up now and again, just to keep the body guessing. When I get bored of the gym or if it is a nice day, I like to get out to a local park or playing field. Where do you live? I ask in that is it still warm/dry enough to go outside and do such things?
One session I do now and again among others Is to drive to the park (yes drive is bad I know, but it is 4 miles away and if I run I’m not fresh enough for the high intensity workout). I will then go for a run around the park for a warm up, maybe 15 mins or so. Then there is a large hill, about 120m long, on a treadmill it would probably vary between 4 and 10 incline. So it is quite steep in places. I will put down a jumper or some sort of marker on the floor to use as a starting point. I sprint up the hill, until I get to a particular tree and go round that which is the finish point. Then I will slowly run/jog across the hill on a flat section then turn back down the hill so I am inline with my starting position before turning back and heading towards the start where I will do it again. I tend to do 8-12 of these sprints which take probably 20 minutes in total. Then depending on how much time I have I will either jog back to the car, or jog to the park where I will go on one of the climbing frames and do some pull ups and then some press ups and sit-ups to make it into a bit of a circuit. If you have a dog I’m sure he/she would enjoy it too!

When I asked how old you were I was expecting you to be about 16 or something with how your pics look! If you are interested in doing this sort of stuff if you PM me your email I’ll send you some diagram examples of circuits and things you can do on any football/rugby field etc what I do quite often.

Woah. I don't mean to gawk or anything, but why in the hell would you want to slim down your butt and thighs?! You look fantastic! I mean seriously, you have great legs. If it's one of those things where it's only going to make you happy if you do it, then go for it, but if I were you, that thought would never even cross my mind!

I agree with many other posters here. Your butt looks fine. I really don't know what the problem is. I can't see any cellulite either but that may be because of the lighting and angle. I guess you just want your thighs/sides of your butt (the part right below your hips) a little slimmer? If that's the case, you may or you may not be able to do that. You just may genetically be "cursed" with that sort of butt. Again, I don't know, but you should try some of the suggestions others are offering here and see what happens. I would say though that even if your butt looked the same 6 months later after trying everything, you're not bad off. Plenty of guys would like what you have.

As for cellulite, sorry, but there's no way to get rid of that. There MIGHT be some sort of surgery that can reduce or maybe even get rid of it entirely, but that's obviously not cheap and, again, I'm not sure if it would really work. Besides that, cellulite is something a woman is stuck with, even if she gets very lean from working out and dieting. What being lean WILL do though is make the cellulite less noticeable. I didn't even see any in the picture, so, again, you're not bad off.

I actually think you need more muscle mass to give that more round shape to your butt and thighs. So squats and deadlifts for you!!!

!

These are my thoughts. But you actually look great ! Do you want a butt that looks like a boy or a well shaped female? You already are fortunate enough to have the later.!! That butt is a 10 !

Maybe you were seeking approval? reading the responses from the guys "you have it" !
