Hi, im new to this site and im having a terrible problem with weight loss.

Let me give you some sort of backstory, to when my problem came about:

Im 19, I graduated high school a year ago. I always had a problem with the way my body looked. Its not that I was over weight, its just that I always had a little chub on my stomach. I was very healthy and actively involved with school sports and all that jazz. At one point during my senior year, I was 6' and 175 lbs.

Its been a little over a year now, and my weight has sky rocketed to 220. Ive got a much bigger stomach, stretch marks on the side of my body and the worst part is that im not healthy at all. I can be somewhat motivated, as I actually spend majority of my day trying to come up with some way to shed the pounds, whether it be at work or at home. Ive grown to be 6'2 since I got out of school, but for once in my life I want to get somewhat defined, and have a nice enough body for me to actually take off my shirt when I go to the beach!

Like I mentioned earlier, im extremely self concious. This weight change has really stunned my social life. Im no longer the outgoing, fun person I was. Im afraid to even talk to women now! I never used to be this way!

Its not that I dont make an attempt to work out, I go to the gym a lot. I usually run on elipticals for 2 hours each time im at the gym. (Which I dont believe is working) Do Elipticals even work? But I dont go to the gym enough.

So my question for all you knowledgeble people in this forum is...

Can someone help me figure out the perfect diet/work out/weight loss plan???

Please, someone, ANYONE!

I need to find out the best things for me to eat and the best possible things for me to do daily to lose this weight as quick as possible. I want to be around 180 hopefully.

So can someone please help me with a perfect plan for my lifestyle that is going to help me shed the pounds?

Also, whats an ideal caloric intake for someone that wants to lose weight?

And...what are some foods that I can eat that dont have a lot or any calories? Please, any information would be greatly appreciated!

Have you read the "words of wisdom" stickie? I suggest starting there to give you a basic idea of the fundamentals.

Nobody is going to be able to give you the Perfect Plan b/c it doesn't exist. Finding what works for you is a trial and error process. Obviously there are some core fundamentals that should be in place no matter what, but that is what the stickie above is in place to provide.

The order of importance that you need to get a grasp of is:

1. Nutrition
2. Resistance training
3. Cardio

Right now it seems like your list is:

1. Cardio

That isn't going to cut it.

Where is the words of wisdom stickie located at?

What is resistance training? Also, my nutrition would be perfect if I could just figure out what would be best for me and right now I dont have a clue. Ive been told a bunch of stuff by people who I dont think know a thing about this stuff, and it shows because ive tried so many things and nothing seems to work. If I could just get a list of healthy, low caloric foods I would probably be perfectly fine. I have an appointment with my doctor, but its a little less than a month away as first time patients have to wait a month before their first visit. School starts in a little over a month though, and I dont want to be in the same position then.

I'd certainly read those 2 stickies Mal gave you above. The first is the one I was referring too. It's a *bank* of informative posts that people have made on the forum, even broken out by category.

And I wouldn't rely on your doc for sound nutrition advice.

Yea, b/c all the useful information provided in the links above aren't worthy. So we should go ahead and pitch some crap diet plan that you have to pay for.

Weight loss isn't complicated. There are no secrets.

The only secrets that exist out there are the ones made up by diet companies trying to sell something.

After 18 years of dieting, I want to save you some wasted time. It all comes down to eating healthy, eating less, and exercise.

Best Wishes,

Carrie
