HELP! Is it possible to "shrink" muscles

I have played volleyball for most of my life, including four years of playing at the collegiate level. Before I went to college, not only was I thinner but my muscle mass was quite a bit smaller. Now that I have graduated I am attempting to start a workout routine to "tone up", but I am also concerned with getting back to my regular size. I know that genetically I am capable of having "Skinny Legs", but because of high weight squats and years of sprints my legs and butt are a lot bigger than what I'd like. I am running 3 miles every other day. Should I make this run longer to wear down my muscles? I'm also lifting small weights at higher repetitions. I know this keeps from building bigger muscles, how do I get smaller ones? Also, should I eat less protein, or more? Thanks!

Being bulky isn't an issue of big muscles, it's an issue of the fat that covers them...all that you're doing now is making it more difficult to lose that fat.

Unless you want to look like Kate Moss or some other skinny-fat shapeless waif.

Honestly I almost never believe that a girl has muscles that are too big. As pennate points out, it's the fat that's covering them that makes you look big. The muscles that you gained merely made the fat stick out more. I was trying to explain this to my aunt who said that she gets big arms if she works them out too much. But honestly, she just carryes a lot of fat on her upper arms.

I don't know the exact measurements, and I'm not trying to say I want to look like a stick. My body isn't really proportional. My upper body is small, and I've got a small to medium chest. And I've got an okay butt, but it's really my thighs. The majority of my volleyball workout consisted of squats and focusing on the thigh area. Even when I was at my smallest, (I'm 5'9 and I weighed 150 lbs), I felt completely comfortable with my body, except for my legs. They are just larger than normal. I have an athletic build, and I'm completely happy with that, but I just want smaller thighs. I know that it's what a lot of girls want. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes, if someone will just point me in the right direction! Thanks!

:yelrotflmao: Unfortunately, many women want just that.

Yep it is unfortunate. I prefer a slightly curvy lady myself. God I am really missing my girlfriend now! Only been gone 3 weeks and 7 left to go awww man its tough! haha. Don't get started on talking about sexy women you might get me too excited with the absence of my girlfriend

Whilst she is away I get some quality time to spend on my fitness routine, including time to try different things too. I have to look at it that way or theres no good side to it!
