Hi all. I'm 15 and currently overweight. I want to get my weight under control before it gets too out of hand so if anyone could offer and advice on where to start I would really appreciate it.

Start with a positive attitude, if you believe it, you can do it. That's what I have been doing and it seems to help me. Cut out all candy and soda for a start. Put post it notes on your mirrors in your bathroom with goals and words of encouragement, seeing the words and saying them out loud to yourself boosts your confidence. Try eating smaller portions, with not knowing your weight situation, check with your doctor first, but low intensity exercises and walking is a good start. I wish you the best of luck, you can do it.

Hello and welcome claire322 and Tannarra! I have to repeat what Tannarra said Claire and it's good you realize and want to correct the overweight, remember health is the most important thing one can have, if you don't have health, everything in your life will not be as good as it could be. Your very young yet, when your much older, you will forever appreciate the steps towards good health you take today.

Obesity is a rampant epidemic that doesn't have to be.

Welcome to the forum.

Lots of good advice above.
You do not mention how much you weigh (it would be great if you told us that) - but most people would benefit from eating more healthily.

That generally means cutting out sweets, cakes etc.

It would probably be a good idea to have a chat with your parents about your wish to lose weight. At your age you are dependant upon the food that they buy and cook for you. You should be able to get a lot of ideas in the nutrition section of ways that you could maybe eat more healthily - maybe by asking for large portions of vegetables and hoping that they are cooked in a healthy way... Also cutting visible fat from meat.

A lot of us aim to drink 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds that we weigh - so you should certainly be able to do that too.

I suggest that you read the following thread - it may help you settle in and make friends

Good luck with your project.
