Hi,

I've just joined. I'm seeking some sensible knowledge and support and to offer it as well, especially when I hit the 5 week mark because that's usually when I give up.

I've been overweight since puberty and I've basically had enough. I've tried the usual binge-diet yo-you route, seriously doesn't work! Now I want to try the eat right and exercise method. Basically, use it and lose it :)

Hello, newbie! :seeya: I'm right along side you on that keeping motivation after a few weeks - I get bored or I feel like I'm not gaining momentum. Holler if you need anything...us newbies have to stick together!! lol

It seems like the use it and lose it is the only way to do it -- if you want it to last.

Good luck on your journey and welcome to the forum!

Welcome, MJA!
How much weight are you wanting to lose??? Set "mini goals" for yourself and then reward yourself as you reach each one (with something non-edible!).

I know what has kept me motivated as I have been on my weight loss journey is the fact that as I am loosing the weight and my clothes are fitting looser...it motivates me to keep going! Now that I have lost over 20 pounds and have bought a few new things to wear...my motivation is too keep fitting into them and NOT letting them get too tight! OF course, I don't want to buy too much until I get done losing...but I am just kind of playing it by ear.

I know that different things motivate different people...it's all about finding what DOES motivate you...that might hopefully help you get past that giving up hurdle at about 5 weeks.
Keep posting!
