Hello

I'm Matt. Just another person working on getting in shape.

12week cut plan started on Jan 2nd. Had ~2weeks of warmup running and getting diet in check. Lost 4lbs in those 2weeks, even with all the holiday drinking!

pre 2week warmup: 197
current: 192.4lbs
goal: 170lbs

daily cal intake: ~1300-1500
fat/carb/prot
30/30/40 split. It is actually closer to a 25/25/50 split.

Workout:
3+mile run, 4-5days a week
pushup/crunch routine every other day.

Do you have access to a gym? You would see much better results from total body training instead of a few pushups/situps. 1300-1500 calories is too low for your weight. You should try a split of 25/40/35 (f,c,p) for awhile.

I do, however with it being just after the new years I dont really want to step foot in that place. I know <1500 is on the low side, I'm trying to get it up to 1600-1700 but its pretty rough eating that much. I'm already force feeding myself as it is. Sounds weird but it really is hard to eat that much.

I'm gona try the split I have setup right now for these 12weeks. So far its been working out. I've had energy for my workouts and I don't feel like complete crap. After the 12weeks if I do not meet my goal or I start to feel slower, I'll adjust the split.

Oh, and for the lifting. My upper body seriously is really weak and to tell you the truth, when I left in the gym I feel like a pussy. hah.. So, during the 12week cut I'm trying to just build up my upper body a bit before I start lifting.

.. sorry for the long reply. I got keyboard happy.

That doesnt even make sense. Doing pushups will cause muscle imbalances of the upper extremities. Your pectorals will become somewhat stronger while your back becomes weaker. You could end up with rounded shoulders, not to mention that pushups and crunches work small muscles. Doing a full body workout will build muscle, which will burn calories (fat).

tony,

After doing some more research, I decided to take your advice. I'll be starting a full body routine on Tuesday. Thanks for making me double think my original plan.
