I suck at these things.

I'm 16 years old, male, and I really recently got tired of being called "The Fatty" around school and life. So, I started the year (December 28th) at 232lbs and now, 4 months later, I'm proud to be a happy 187lbs. I cut all my junk food and microwavable food out of my diet and started eating Smart-Ones for lunch instead of school food. I also go the Gym 6 times a week for 2 hours. It's really time to get my life back in order (Plus, just dating perks).

I'm still on my way to my overall goal of 175lbs by summer time.

Welcome to WLF! I couldn't imagine going to a gym, ...ever... I'd be scared of hurting myself or something... lol. I remember school... kids can be cruel! Sadly, I ended up dropping out because of their cruelty... (not worth it! trust me!)... their favorite nicname for me was "shamoo". Anyway, good luck to you! :)

Congrats on the weight loss! What types of exercises are you doing? How is your physique progressing? Are you starting to see some muscular definition?

I do cardio for 1 hour, do free weights and weight machine things for 30, then back to cardio. I am seeing some sort of muscle growth (Mostly in my arms) and my massive calves have lost their fattyness, but my stomach is the area that's annoying me the most. Sadly, I acquired my father's body and genes, so I will really have to work a long time to see any major changes.

The kids at school, expecially the kids in gym class, are actually proud of me and have stopped making fun of me. They have started to get past me ever being fat and I've become.. A normal person...

That is great man, I am so happy for you. They shouldn't have been messing with you in the first place, but it is good that you have earned their respect!

Is there a rhyme or reason to what you are doing with weights? Or are you just doing whatever you feel like?

I would start doing weights before your cardio. And you don't need much weight training to maintain the muscle you have. That is all you can expect, really, while dieting. 2-3 weight training sessions per week will be plenty.

Hm, I've always just done what I can. I like the amount of time I spend at the gym now, so I might try less weights and fill the more with cardio.

I don't think that's the answer. Weights are a very important component of a good weight loss program. Again 2-3 sessions per week is not only sufficient. It is also mandatory IMO.

Cardio out the butt is not the answer. If you need to do boat loads of cardio in order to realize results in terms of weight loss, I would put money on it that something is not right nutritionally.
