I wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone. I stumbled across this site yesterday and have been addicted ever since! I think it is fantastic that this community is out there and thriving - I know I need the extra motivation!
About me:
I am a 25 year old male near Raleigh, NC. I have been married for 3 1/2 years and have a lovely little girl. Also, I have another little one on the way. This little no-name person is actually a huge motivator to my recent decision to become healthy. Pregnancy sets a great time frame for weight-loss (at least for the husband). I have until January 26, 2009 to reach my goal. I CAN DO IT!
I haven't always been overweight. Merely 6 years ago I was considered too skinny by most people. I weighed 160 pounds and was very happy with my body. Then, when I moved in with my (now) wife I started gaining weight, eventually leveling out at 232.2 pounds. I was disgusted with myself, so I started working out and became very healthy. I reached my goal of 180 pounds in 4 short months. Only one problem. I weighed 180 pounds for all of 1 day! I started to gain weight immediately after reaching my goal.
Now, 2 years later, I am at 242 pounds and even more miserable than before! I've tried starting over again and again, but each time I fail.
This time is different, I can feel it! Instead of this 'all or nothing' attitude that I am accustomed to, I am taking it one day at a time, and one meal at a time.
Good luck to everyone out there, I hope you all reach your goals!
