Heavy Bag Training and Pecs

Hey everyone I bought a 60lb. heavy bag yesterday and was wondering exactly what muscles do you tone and all with a heavy bag?

Also can anyone give me some tips on how to get nice rounded pec muscles? I already bench press and do push ups. Is there anything else that would me out here?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

A heavy bag is a great workout! It will help to tighten-up the torso, pecs, serratus, anterior head of the shoulders, and triceps. If you include kicking, you also tone up the lower abs, thighs and shins! Not to mention this is a good cardio if you go for 30+ minutes full-on!!!

Make sure you wrap your hands and wrists (at the very least) before doing prolonged heavy bag workouts. It is very easy to tweak something while whacking a bag!

Try adding dips to your chest routine! If you can do more than 6 dips (per set), you might want to consider adding a bit of weight via a diving belt.

Keep up the good work!

Just to add on the pecs tip after you have done the bench try doing a cicuit of say 10 flyes the 10 press ups repeat three times this is a great way to saturate the pecs!!
on the heavy bag tip make you wrist is straight and inline with your forearm whenever you punch a sprained wrist is a real pain!!

I love the heavy bag, only I call it 'punch bag' first it helps you punch harder, it is very good cv work when you are just throwing loads of punches
