Okay- I'll have my official weigh-in begin with my 6/19 weight of 248.6. As far as when I want to reach the 100s... Christmas??

I won't be weighing myself till the 30th but I'm on my way to being less..:)

I have been sticking to my goal of exercise every day.

The Gazelle is a cardion machine, Tony little does infomercials about it. It's kinda like walking on air, you can move your legs like your walking and there are poles to put your hands on so you are moving your legs and your arms at the same time. Wow I didn't do a good job on that description, but I hope that helps a little.

Let me know if I am missing anyone!! Especially those of you who joined a while back, cause I don't know if you are still in this or not. :D

check it out

I found this really neat little food and activity tracker you can print.

http://www.ndep.nih.gov/diabetes/pubs/GP_FoodActTracker.pdf

This site - http://www.ndep.nih.gov - also has lots of great info for anyone looking to prevent or control diabetes. Did you know a loss of just 5 to 7% of your body weight, along with 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week will prevent or delay the onset of Type II Diabetes? Imagine how much more effective losing to our healthy weight range would be! I apologize in advance if you see this post more than once. I am putting it in a few spots. :)

Hi!

I think this club is a great idea! I know that I, for one, will be super-happy to get below the dreaded "200" mark. :)

My highest weight was 220 lbs, and right now, I'm at 210 lbs. As of tonight, I'm going to recommmit to losing weight, so that by this time next month, I'll hopefully be out of the 200s!

Good luck to all of you in your weight loss goals!

I'm so glad we are getting so many new members!! I hope we all get to Onederland soon! :D

Great job Bep!

I think we need to get everyone in here energized. No matter where you are now, we're all going to the 100s (and some people are going farther down in the 100s). Can we brainstorm some ideas to get us excited about this again? Am I the only one that feels like this club has the potential to be a great motivational tool if we just use it well? I have an idea, and you're allowed to hate it if you want (or not) so just tell me what you think of it. Every week we talk about some topic that could help all of us. We'll read someting, get in discussions, try to help & contribute so that we're all successful. I'll start (and I may be the only one if you don't want to do this. That's fine with me, I'm just trying to get more out of a club full of people with great experiences in trial and error!)

So, I'm picking this week's topic, and I think it should be great successes we've had in this battle & how we've achieved them. I would say my greatest success since I seriously started trying to reduce my weight has been my rededication to exercise. I go in spurts, and when I spend a month straight exercising at least 6 days a week, I lose inches. The numbers do crazy things occasionally, as we're currently seeing in my weight, but I have definitely lost inches, and in the end I guess that's what will make me happiest anyway. I don't always have much time, but my 2 mile jog takes me 25 minutes (I'm working on getting faster) and it's still making a difference. Plus the little bike rides here and there and the weight lifting (which I need to do more of, but I'm getting in at least 2x a week). I've been battling with this for years, and it's always when I'm most serious about exercise that I really see results. Sometimes I don't even reduce my calories that much. Always 2000 or less, but last year I spent several months when I had the extra hour doing additional weight lifting and eating 2000 cal. per day and I lost a noticeable amount of pounds AND inches. When I couldn't sustain that workout level I had to cut my calories too, but for me at least, exercise has been my biggest key to success. Once I stopped fighting it, I felt much better about it.

What have you done that has really made a difference for you, either recently or in the past?

Okay

Okay, I'll bite.

What has made a difference for me? Well, strange though it may sound, writing has made a huge difference for me. I write on here, and I write in a paper journal, and I write in a food diary. That's a lot of writing, but it has kept me focused and enthused.

I can look at my diaries and see exactly how long I have been at this - no, it has not been forever, although some days it feels like it. I can look and see how much better I am eating now compared to one month ago. I can read tons of supportive messages when I am feeling down. And most of all, I can get out my negative feelings on paper instead of eating when I feel bad. That has made a huge difference, and I am so happy to still be on track after nearly seven weeks!

NEXT!!!

My senior year of college, I lost a considerable amount of weight through exercise and diet. I tracked total calories consumed and total calories burned on a daily basis- and I made it into a challenge for myself. I had a minimum number of calorie intake that I wouldn't allow myself to go below- but I kept pushing myself to increase the deficit by exercising more. That worked well at the time because my schedule wasn't overly busy and I was anal retentive enough to enjoy recording all of that.

Now I find that the best motivation for me is to find someone to exercise with. Sometimes it's hard to find someone with the motivation to exercise AND a similar schedule- but if at all possible, it sure does help keep you accountable.

I've never posted in this club before, but I have been keeping up with the readings of it and I guess missprincess' question motivated me enough to respond. The one thing that's keeping me motivated throughout this whole weight loss is how surprised my boyfriend is going to be when he comes back from training in the military this summer. Whenever I feel myself ready to give in, I think of that, and I'm right back on track. Maybe it's a bad reason to be doing this, but it's working for me. That and I told him he couldn't propose to me until I lose a lot of this extra weight. So I have the picture of the ring I want in my purse to remind me of how much happiness a healthy lifestyle can bring me.

That's sweet, Lines. Please make sure you're doing it for yourself ultimately. No motivator is bad as long as in the grand scheme of things you're doing it because YOU want to. Thanks for posting, and please continue to contribute!

Of course, missprincess, I'm doing it for myself. I've wanted these changes for so long, it's just taken me an outside source to get motivated. I'm LOVING the new (and improved) me!

For me, I have a ton of different motivators.

1) I am turning 29 today...which is going to put me at 30 in just over a year. I want to look good BEFORE I turn 30.

2) I want to have another baby...hopefully be pregnant around the time I turn 30. I have had 2 c-sec and desperately want to try for a VBAC with #3. Better health may help me be able to do that...who knows???

3) I am so stinkin sick of dodging out of pictures. I want to feel ok about having pictures taken with my children. I barely have any at all with them...and I don't like the few that I do have because I can't look at them and remember the fun we were having...only can think about how rediculous I look.

4) I HATE plus sized clothing. It is poopy and granny! Now...I am pretty conservative in dress (I go for skirts knee length or longer, no cleavage, stuff like that). That isn't going to change just because I get thinner...it's just me. I don't like the whole 'flaunt your body' kind of thing. I don't feel the need to have men drool over me and have other women jealous. But I still want to be able to wear cuter clothes! I want to shop for the same sizes as my sisters and friends when I am out with them instead of just hanging out and saying 'oh...that IS cute' but not even being able to pick up something and try it on. I want to be able to find cute clothes! No such thing in the plus-sized world.

The list go on and on...sooooooo many reasons not to be overweight!!!

Good motivators, Bep. Happy Birthday, and don't worry, 30 isn't the end of your ability to slim down. I'm 33 and I've only started getting close to my goal in the past year. I've been working at this for 8 years (slowly, and with breaks...and a couple of backsteps, but we won't talk about those). I've had more success in the past year than ever before. And I want to be thinner & healthier before I get pregnant too. I've heard it makes everything easier.

This is a great idea, MP! :D I was always hoping this could be more than just a thread for us to check in when we had lost some weight, but I was just kind of taking over where Tina left off. I will definitely come back later when I have more time and post my motivators. But, I can tell you, if it wasn't for this forum, I would have given up long ago!

well I've had a set back as I posted in my dairy, I'm still at 227.8 after 2 weeks AAARRRGGGG!!!, but I'm not back into the 230's and I was sick for 3 days of just sleeping, hardly eating, and net getting anywhere near enough water :(

I don't know if I can wait 2 more weeks to weigh myself again??? I really don't mean to bring anyone down but the wind has definately left my sails.
