Have you seen my abs? I seem to have misplaced them.

My hip seam just bust open. Can't argue with that sign that it's time to slim down a bit.

Background: I'm a 27 year old female. I work fulltime, attend law school at night, and am planning my wedding, so my free time is a bit shot. I used to be fanatical about hitting the gym every day for about 10 years, but I just haven't found time time to go since I returned to school two years ago. I've gained less than 10 pounds in that time, but my nicely toned muscles have turned into a quivering mass of flab, which is quite repulsive.

I just gave my notice at work, so now I'll only have school to focus on, which should permit plenty more gym time (and cleaning time, and personal time, and pleasure reading time, and...I'm so excited!).

What I'd like to achieve:
1) Trim down from my current size 8/10 to a comfy 6 (and not a vanity-sized one).
2) Tone up my arms (ack, no bingo wings at my wedding!), abs, and especially my butt and thighs.
3) Feel sexy again on beach or with fiance.

How I plan to do that:
1) Decrease alcohol and sweets consumption (my downfalls)
2) Take the time to prepare healthy meals instead of grabbing snacks on the go
3) Work out at least 1.5 hours five times per week

I don't have a set goal weight I'm aiming towards, but I would like to lose about 10 pounds. My initial goal is to break the 150 barrier. I haven't been below that in a couple of years.

My current diet isn't terribly bad, but it's not the most healthful either. I eat tons of fruits and veggies (easy to grab and go), but I hardly ever get any protein. And I am tempted by every sweet deliciousness I see. I also drink too much (way to unwind after very stressful day/week/month...).

The next couple of weeks are going to be hard as I'm wrapping up work and preparing for finals, so I'm just going to focus on my eating habits, and then I'll add in the exercise after I have a bit more time.

haha.... your title cracks me up!

you seem like a really cool chick, and i'm sure you'll be successful! congrats on the engagement... when's the wedding?

welcome! :D

sweets

Hey slimmerbysummer-

Try to religiously cut out any sweets or sugar for 4 days (even fake sugar or sweetness, and alcohol counts as this type of carb too), and you will be amazed at how your cravings for the damned deliciousness simply disappears!

That's 96 mere hours of no sweets. If you're lucky enough to get 8 hours of sleep per night, that's only 64 waking hours without sweets.

And if the cravings hit in those 4 days, my advice...brush your teeth and drink a big glass of water.

You can do it, and you'll feel so much better for it!

Let me know if you try it and how it goes.

That alcohol can be a big factor in losing your waistline can't it??

I was reading your entry and just thought to myself '(sigh) A size 8 pair of jeans...what I would give for that again!' haha Girl, you are so close to your goal, you can do this! Good luck!
