Guideon's diary of change

I'm just glad the deer didn't hit me...

Out running again today, 7,5 km, went really well, knee is as good as healed.
Do feel my legs a bit more than usual after a run, but that's understandable, with 160 cycle km's over the weekend
Really looking forward to that 10k race :)
20 day to go, most of which will be spent hiking in the Bavarian Alps :hurray:

Wow, quite a thrill since it missed. We had a deer hit our car as we drove down the road. It ran into the side of the car as we drove down the road. The deer barely missed a step and appeared unharmed. The car needed a new door and side mirror. So yeah it wouldn't have felt too good on a bike. We saw a large buck in full velvet last Friday night on the way home. Living in the woods you learn to watch out for them, but if they run into you there is nothing to be done.

Also, this! (Warning some swearing and hurting)

FYI: That's a Red Hartebeest.

yeah I saw that youtube video before, and that was exactly what was going through my mind as it ran across the path in front of me.
Also watching Nat Geo Wild I learned that Animals can't properly judge speed, so that's why it ran into the biker, and your car for that matter.
But from this video it's clear there's not a lot of time between the animal coming into view until it hits the cyclist, so there's not a lot you can do.

I did hit a rabbit once on my bike, or I should say a rabbit ran into my front wheel, nothing I could do. Didn't dare to look what happened to it, but needless to say there was blood and fur on my bike...

Oh, so that's why. As I was watching the video, I couldn't help but ask myself: Why would he (the deer) do that? There is plenty of space left...

I'm sorry about what happened with the rabbit. :willy_nilly:

Sorry about the rabbit. You can be comforted in that rabbits are very good at maintaining their numbers ;) and some other woodland creature(s) had an easy meal. I would have likely eaten it myself.

That's unfortunate. :/

I hit a frog a couple days ago and I still feel guilty about it.

I think this comment had an influence on me. Today I dreamed with frogs... I'm not joking, and I have never dreamed with them... :willy_nilly:

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME!?

Just catching up. Glad the deer incident turned out to be nothing. It could've been both for both of you! I'm with Cory. If I so much as hit a frog I'd feel so guilty.

Once a deer was just running up to my car and when I stopped It probably thought " I kind of don't want to commit suicide anymore" and wandered off. :)
Another time frogs where migrating to another pond and I was going to a train station to pick someone up and the roads where covered in frogs jumping about.
I hit a few :( When I was sitting on a bench waiting a frog was sitting next to me like he was waiting for someone too... Maybe he was ... :)

hahaha how cool would that be: train arrives, doors open, frog jumps out, waiting frog and arriving frog greet and both leave train station happily jumping :)

The amount of flat frogs I've seen on the road on my walks here in Bretange....
Poor little buggers.
Sorry about the rabbit.
Hubby hit a bird once and the felt so bad he drove back to ensure it was dead and not in pain. It just ran on the road at the last minute. It looked like a chicken or something. He had def killed it with the car.

I'm glad that you enjoy running... It's amazing when you can do something that you enjoy and it also helps you.

I wish I could say the same... :biggrinjester:
