good cardio regime?

hi i was wondering if you guys thought wat im doing now is a good running regime. on the treadmill i do 2 minutes of jogging, 2 minute fast run, 1 minute jog, 2 minute fast run, 1 minute jog, 2 minute fast run, 1 minute jog and 2 minute fast run. that makes it 13 minutes. i jog at 8 kph and run at 14 kph. i get totally knackered and totally out of breath after that. i only weigh 12 stones and have a bit of love handle to get rid of. i heard that a 30-40 minute run is good for ya but i dont know wat kind of speed i should be doing that. i certainly cant handle 30 minute at 14 kph! can any1 give me some advice pleeease? thanks

is no1 gona reply?

What you're doing is interval training which is an excellent way to burn calories and therefore fat (love handles included).

How often are you doing this? Whats your diet like and are you also doing wieghts? Your goal is obviously to drop bodyfat so, I would say that diet is every bit as important as cardio but, it sounds like your off to a good start.

I usuallt do my intervals the opposite way to you. ie. after warmup (5 mins or so) I run 1 minute flat out - and I do mean flat out - absolutely as fast as I can run...about 18.5kph for 40secs - 1min. Then 2 minutes at about 8 kph to recover. Works well for me. Is 14kph your max?

thanks for the advice. 14 kph is not my max. i did 16 one time which was pretty fast but to b realistic i think i could handle 18. but yer im tryin to keep to a good diet. im also doing alot of weights. i wanna build muscle but i want really really good abs like brad pitt has. so im assuming that the cardio will get me there as well as good diet. il ask my gym about the diet and what they recomend for me to eat. i think im eating healthy but i could do better. its just that i need to know where to buy these foods and what prices they are.

Cool, when your doing HIIT, you should incline the treadmill a bit.
Only by 2-3 (however its measured)
This will make you tired even quicker which is the goal of HIIT, it also mean that you wont be sprinting at such high speeds so its actually more safe this way.
