Good Afternoon to you all...

Hello, I am new to these forums, so bare with me if I have posted this in the wrong section or something.

Well, I will get straight to the point, I am just coming up 17 and I'm male, I'm around 6'2 and about 95-96 kilos, people tell me I am quite a muscular build, but I just feel that I need to lose weight and gain more muscle, if anyone can give advice or something on how to lose 6-10 kilos whilst building up, more muscle mass, it would be most appreciated... Thanks :)

Hi Doree, 71-88kg is the healthy weight range for your height so you can afford to lose a bit of weight.

if you want to gain muscle, you will have to do weight training i guess and its a good idea to keep a reasonably high protein level in your diet. That doesn't mean eating half a dozen eggs and a steak at every meal.

You need protein for muscle building and tissue repair
complex carbohydrates for energy
fruit vegetables for vitamins and minerals and fibre
good fats for some essential bodily functions
dairy - especially milk, yoghurt and hard cheese (but not too much) for strong bones and teeth, ie for calcium.

learn about nutrition from some reliable sites. I've got some links on my diary page. See link to that below.

Go the calorie counting route or eat well planned balanced meals that are not too large and don't eat between meals except something like a piece of fruit.

If you are big meat eater, don't get into peanut butter and nuts. They are high fat and you don't need the protein. Only eat nuts if you are not eating meat or other protein in your meal.

its a good idea to quit whatever high sugar drink you are consuming and take up water instead.

Dore94,

I'm no body builder but I do wish you the best of luck finding your way.
