Giving in

I have a problem with "giving in" so to speak
if there are cookies or chocolate i have some
(not alot) but i do eat it! When im at the store
for my sister or parents and i see chocolate
or chips, sometimes i give in and buy! My way
around it is "well i did just lose 2ibs so i can have
some" and i dont want to think like this!!

How do you stop the temptations and cravings??
iim stuck and i think ive hit a plateau :(

:eh:

I'm a huge addict for sweets and chocolate is a big downfall of mine as well, but for the most part I just try not to buy it. When I get the craving I make some instant chocolate pudding since it's low in calories and still tastes rich. Something else I've found that helps is to drink a bit of milk and it'll suppress the craving.

this was also a big problem of mine. I would give in greatlt to temptation. But then I remind myself how crappy im going to feel after I eat this and how im probably going to get down on myself.

So pennybear is right the best thing to do is to just walk away and then you'll see how good it feels to walk away. Cause I think that feeling is sweeter then any chocolate

or if your just dying for something chocolate then get a little piece just a little one give it some time I know we all want the whole bar but a small taste and the craving will fade. Its like me an sugary cereal. Like if im really craving a bowl i'll just grab a little handful and munch on that. you have the same taste your looking for with out the guil of hey did I really just eat a big bowl of that stuff.

Cravings

Are you taking a multivitamin? Magnesium (and I think Zinc) are very important in suppressing cravings (which is why women crave chocolate around their monthlies). Vitamin B helps you get the energy you need so you don't have those lows where you feel like eating because you're tired.

I beat cravings in three ways:
1. I think about WHY I want to eat and do something else that will give me the same feeling. (eg. yoga when I want to feel calm)
2. I eat dates. They are sweet and yummy and filling, and they just seem to stop me craving chocolate. I don't know why.
3. I eat the thing I'm craving. I've switched to dark chocolate after not eating it for a long time and you eat much less because it's so rich.

I often find myself severly tempted by sweeties, chocolate and buns! If I'm offerend something like this by someone or someone asks me if they can get me anything I politely say "No, Thanks" They are the first words out of my mouth and then they'll not offer again that day and that one method of temptation out the way.

I work in a place that has a tea, coffe and arrrggggg buscuit fund! Temptation central. When I am tempted by the biscuits I ask myself several questions?

> Do I really NEED it? - NO

> Why do I WANT it? - Cause I'm greedy (i'm not really, but this though helps me)

> Is it beneficial for me to have it? - NO

> How good am i really going to feel after I've eaten it? - Maybe I will feel good but how long with that last? I'll soon be thinking about my sticking out belly, thus making me miserable.

> Will I feel better for abstaining? - YES! I'll feel better for having the will power to to say no. I'll not have all that fat and sugar working it way through my body adding all those little fat cells to my body making me look heavy, phyically unfit and mentall unfit!

I know some of you make think I'm totaly banana's but it helps me. And I don't abstain all the time I do treat myself, but I always ask myself these kinds of questions and if there is even the tiniest bit of doubt in my mind I'll not have that treat. Only If I can honestly say that I would really like that bar of chocolate I choose dark chocolate (less calories) and I savour it so that I really feel like I've had a treat.

I hope this helps you.

I'm a total sweets addict so I know what you are going through. I love chocolate, cake, creme brulee, all that stuff. What works for me is not saying no sweets at all but only once in a while and when that time comes not eating the entire thing.

Strategy 2 might sound crazy but it works for me. I have chocolate and other sweets in the house, right now there are mini twix, dark chocolate m&m's, Italian ice, and biscuits. I don't eat it though because it doesn't tempt me 1) because it's there already and it's not a big deal because it's not a special occasion 2) because it's great to look at what you see in the fridge and say "Not today chocolate!!"

Everyone has to get past this issue in their own way but personally cutting out sweets completely would never work for me because it's something I love. In moderation sweets are fine and if sweets were cut out comepletely I would just want it more and end up binging.

I hope you find what works for you, don't give up!

i take a multivitamin every day :) Thanks guys! You all have helped me out alot!! I know I just have to say "no" and not to deny myself but to have it in moderation!
