I'm 21, a former high school wrestler, now hopelessly out of shape and incapable of running a mile without a break. Thank you laziness, job that requires nothing but seated work, and apathy towards my image. Thanks a ton.
All that's behind, though. I'm kicking it into gear, and it's starting now. I was approx. 280 lbs. at 6' in April of '09. Since then I've cut down to approx. 230 lbs. using a no carb diet and no exercise, but I let it go for all of November through December and gained the loose weight back. I'm now approx. 245 lbs. starting 2010.
Here's my plan. I'm signed up at a 24hour gym. I'll be following this routine:
It's going to wipe me out for a while, and I doubt I'll be able to actually finish the desired reps even with minimal resistance, but I'm going to stick it through. Cardio on the elliptical before and after each workout, abs every day.
My diet plan is as follows: Less than 10g of carbs per day. Break day is Sunday. Anything containing 0 carbs is on the diet in infinite supply.
This is pretty much how I lost all my weight in '09, and I'm going to follow the super high protein and minimal carb approach again, but supplement it with the weight training and cardio.
This may seem excessive, or even counter-productive. I'm not concerned. I have good genes, my body has been active and in great physical condition in the past, and I have the discipline to stick to the no-carb plan. My weight is a little misleading, as I have a very broad and thick build naturally, but at 180lbs. in high school I was slim and trim. I'm looking to cut down to approx. 200 lbs. in the next few months, possibly lower or higher depending on how my physique shapes up.
There will be plenty of days where I'll eat only meats. Most likely some where I'll eat only sliced turkey and mustard. I try to fit veggies in, but when you're cutting the carbs down so low there are scarce options. At the moment I just finished eating leftover steak tips and a large serving of broccoli and cheese with Tony's. This will be a typical 'good' meal for me. On the run I pick up plain double cheeseburgers from Burger King for a buck, drop the bread and I've got 2 meat patties with cheese. Great snacks.
I'm making an effort to cut out carbonated and caffeinated drinks and optimize water intake, but I'm not making any strong efforts to drop Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper from my diet. They're just too damned good. The gym will probably help me kick those habits more than anything.
Anyways, I don't really know why I'm posting this here. I need a place to keep my progress, and this website seemed as good as any. I'll update as my weight and physique change.
