Getting Fit- hey everyone. Any tips will be great

Hey Everyone,

I'm a new member and over the past few months have started really focusing on getting fit, eating better. The main goal at the moment is to drop the kg's and then really tone up.

I have about 6kg's to go, so not too far off the goal (just roughly, I don't look at the scale as the main indicator of where I need to be). I have never been really fat, just ...chubby I guess and untoned, with a bit of flab here and there:blush5:. I lost 5kg's already, which I'm happy about. I guess the main reason why I joined is to get some good workout tips, a bit of variety as I get bored of doing the same thing over and over.

I like to exercise... but sometimes I get lazy. Food wise, I'm ok, but I do find it hard to cook things that TASTE good and I hate the recipes that cost a FORTUNE to make. So any help there would be good too.

At the moment I have been doing cardio and some resistance, I'm in love with jumping rope right now. Just started about 2 weeks ago. I do 30 seconds high intensity, 30 seconds break for about half an hour each session, I try to do more and more every day.

Anyway I think that's enough for now. I look forward to browsing the forum and interacting with other members here. :)

Hi, and welcome :) Excellent job on the weight loss so far!

Re food, have you tried experimenting yourself, or searching recipe databases online? The ones I use a lot are taste.com.au and bbcgoodfood.com. What I do with a lot of those recipes is edit them (to make them lower calorie or substitute expensive ingredients) There's also a recipe subforum here.

With exercise, there are a few people who are really knowledgeable about that sort of stuff. I can heartily recommend for resistance training checking out this website, which even helps you set up your own training program: ExRx (Exercise Prescription) on the Net (as I was advised then did in this thread: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weight-loss-through-exercise/48418-question-low-rep-high-weight.html ).

detox your body

Remember that the body, needs to balance function. It can, however, more than what are disturbed when the body needs it to eliminate or can use. Toxicity occurs. It is dependent on the frequency, power, or dosage of the present toxins. It can produce fast or immediate occurrence of the symptoms appeared in how some drugs and several pesticides.

I've read a few weird posts like Daniels lately. I would just ignore them because they are so upside down they don't seem human. Its almost like its a computer and yet the spelling is correct so its got to be some sort of gadgetry.

Hi fit and welcome.

I think we are in a similar boat. I've lost about 6kg and want to lose another 7kg.

Re exercises, i can't help you much. Are you doing them at home? I would suggest doing a few yoga classes to learn some more. You can also find exercises and things on youtube.

Re recipes, I am with you on things that cost a fortune to make. I find i am doing pretty well iwth my food now that i have given up sugar and got back into cooking. I use cookbooks from my collection. I have a good spice collection. I don't cook with a lot of meat. I put my recipes on my page and list my meals.

Maybe you could start threads saying - I've got this in my fridge, what can i do iwth it? I know that works. You end up with a lot of choices.

I think if you are not confident of cooking good things, cook a lot using recipes. And also try to plan ahead a bit so that when you go shopping you have some dish in mind for the food you are buying.

ON your diary, you could talk about the foods you like to eat and invite people to offer suggestions.

Most of my cooking involves nothing more than oil, spices, noodles or pasta or rice, lentils or chickpeas, vegetables, dried herbs, eggs, salad, bread, avocado. I buy some different things if i want to experiment a bit such as with rice paper for spring rolls or seaweed for nori rolls. We've also got a vegetable dish cooking club going in the club section. Feel free to join in.

Fit, posts like Danielbaum's are usually created by google translate or a similar translating software. They are originally in other languages and get translated, with nonsensical results like the above posts.

They are usually spam, so if you see anything that doesn't make sense, just ignore it.

And welcome to the forum! :)
