Hey PLB, how are you? School is going alright, im in my final year before college, this is the most important one, i wanted to go to a college in the north of Ireland but since its considered constituency of the U.K it would be too much money for me to afford, Im not really sure on what to do currently, I dont want to go into college and take on some course i wont put my all into, health and fitness would be pretty obvious but since i done work experience in a gym in Ireland at least, no one has any enthusiasm, they would happily sit at the counter whilst through a class window in front of them someone would be squatting with horrible form in a smith machine, they didnt really care or show any form of energy, was so boring and not what i expected, its damn confusing but im not letting it get to me, il just have to let it play out and see soon maybe what i would like to pursue, thanks for the comment and dropping in on the log again, always appreciated!

I am indeed, leaving cert now, 3 weeks in already and seems like i only had first day back yesterday, whenever your not lookin forward to the end of the year like other years, it will fly and then in the likes of 2nd year and that it didnt come quick enough, Anyway, its not so bad so far but i dont know what to do as i said to PLB, its confusing, but i dont want to let it bother me just yet, im let it slide and slide until all of a sudden i have to make a decision like an eegit, but il try figure out soon enough, thanks for asking, I think its even more impressive you started loosing weight when you are out of school and in a job which is much more demanding and energy consuming, its a challenge to fit it in with responsibilties aswell, so congrats to you!

Hey Dylan,

I had the same type of experience in the first gym that I worked at... The guy had been training people for 20+ years and had probably never changed what exercises he did... And he barely even talked to his clients. I didn't last very long there...My second job was in a medical fitness facility, where people actually cared about their clients' success. I think you just have to find your niche in the fitness world and ignore the attitudes of (some) others. If you keep looking, I'm sure you'll find other gyms that have motivated staff that actually want to help their clients. Not everyone wants to be screamed at while they are in the gym, but I think that trainers who are a little over-enthusiastic are much better than those who ignore their clients - at least they are paying attention. The other option is to be self-employed... it can be harder to get started at first, but you have control over your work and are less likely to follow in the footsteps of the 'lazy' trainers that you see because it's YOUR business, so you have to work hard, no matter what. Just my 2 cents :)

Yeah, i like the area i live in at the moment but for population it isnt huge, and not many serious lifters or gyms in my area, i wouldnt want to go to the capital, dont know why but i just dislike Dublin, it sounds like a long shot and possibly wont ever happen but i had an idea in the back of my mind that in later years when my parents pass away and i have nothing left in Ireland to stay for, move out to america and the gyms in certain areas would gave a much better atmosphere i imagine or to even open a gym somewhere, thats the very long term, at the moment im still confused and no further on but im sure something will come to me soon, projects in school and schoolwork in general is coming along fine at the moment as far as i think, but i did take onboard your very good advice that its probably just different areas, i also worked their during the weekends and apparently their peak times were during the week at around 4pm so maybe i just wasnt there at an optimum time! Going into it alone would be risky in a country the likes of Ireland, not many can afford to be hiring personal trainers, but is a very good idea none-the-less, i will look into it further, i might even do a few courses in college if i find the college gyms so good that i find myself taking on more courses :DThanks for the advice and replies PLB they were definitely useful!

You definitely have time to figure things out... you're young and still in school, so you have lots of opportunity to figure out what you want to do. What I meant by being self-employed was not necessarily to open your own gym, but to just do your own advertising and such and figure out where you can take your clients. You will likely have to work out a different deal with each gym that you want to take your clients to, though. Right now there are 4 different gyms in my area that I could take my clients to (though I try to go to the same gym as much as possible). At each place, they require me to pay a user fee, which varies, depending on the deal that I've worked out with them. When the weather is nice, I can take them outside for free :). Don't know if that's very common in your area, but it seems like a fairly common strategy here.

Thanks for your advice, i will certainly take this into consideration when thinking of my future plan!

EM, I havent posted in a while because for some reason, and im not sure but i think its the first time in 2 years, since i started loosing weight that I have just went off in a spiral like this, im not even joking, the last time i put on weight, i was doing it intentionally for muscle gaining purposes, over the last little while i have just been eating flat out and no exercise what-so-ever, it has been pretty bad, i feel quite flabby round the mid-section, muscles have depleted since i havent done a workout in a few weeks now, and bodybuilding is my favorite thing, its just my mind has been occupied by a damned female and some pessimistic thoughts and other general bad things etc.

I didnt weigh myself before and after, i seem to go by looks and feel now and i am not satisfied with any of those two as we speak, Anyways, im convinced this negative attitude toward weight loss and fitness will pass, just recently i havent been bothered to do anything, just thinking, whats the point, its happened a few times before but ive picked myself up very soon when i notice minor improvements, I made an attempt at getting back on board today, i plan to make goals as when i wanted to get on my suit both times i was very successful so i know i have it in me, i just need something to work towards, I might make some date that i want to wear such an item of clothing and it to fit well to motivate me, or just be in good shape for the haloween holidays, I just need to get things collected and we will be going good again

I made an attempt at trying today, i still ate bad at lunch time in school but i have done 1 walk and plan on another walk and a 10 minute run before the night is out and im finished eating solids for the evening, just a cup of coffee again and that will be me hopefully

Food

Breakfast:2 weetabix w/milk and coffee

lunch:4 breadcrumbed chicken tenders(deep fat fried) w/chilli sauce

Dinner:2 chicken fillets, wholegrain rice

Snack:coffee x 2, diet coke

Exercise

25 min walk @ 4.8mph and 1.5% incline

25min walk @ 4.8mph and 1.5% incline

10 minute jog @ 7.5mph

I really hope this log gets a good seeing to over the next few weeks just so i can drop this extra bit of fat off and be on the road again!

Hey Dylan, sorry to hear that you've fallen off the wagon, so to speak. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself over short-term slip ups... nobody can expect to be perfect 100% of the time. Maybe take a look at the diet and exercise plan that you were doing and ask yourself if it is a realistic plan to follow all the time. You want to find a balance between food, exercise, and all of the other aspects of your life. If you focus too much on the diet and exercise and neglect other aspects of your life, you'll likely not stick with it long term. Or maybe you just needed a break ;)

Cheers for the encouragement PLB, School work caught up with me and i had to sort that out and lead me to my first week not training, then the second week i didnt start up and then some issues were occupying my mind and was questioning myself and why i bothered to do weights and be active etc but i came to the realization that i love to do weights and see myself progressing and just doing something worthwhile, didnt post last few days because i had a few days where friends were over and i had a slice of pizza on that day and some coke, but i have actually started loosing the water fairly well, my stomach doesnt look as bloated and after this evenings first weight training back i realize how much i want to bulk and put on muscle and do that bulk/cut process, going to go pretty hard up until haloween, 2 cardios a day when at home and then eat inbetween 1500 - 2000 cals a day so i dont starve myself but at the same time keep it steady, then up towards haloween which is only 19 or 20 days away i will start my bulk but i did promise myself i would be very slim and low fat for the start of my bulk so I can do it either of 2 ways, work extremely hard loosing fat up until my bulk(after all its only 20 days of sacrifice) or either take it a little slower and start bulk later(but i have already moved the date forward and whenever i have a goal date to work towards i tend to work very well), but i think i will go with the former, i know its not that healthy and i wouldnt be able to keep that up but when im bulking i wont need to be eating so little and exercising so frequently with treadmills etc, then when the cut comes next year i will know what to do to get to where I would like to be.I realize the things I enjoy in life, and I want to lose this fat to have a good bulk, and to not stray from my interest just because of school occupying my evenings with more work than i already done in the day so i shall work towards my goal of starting bulk around haloween night, I have already ate pretty well today and have done cardio and weights so it is on, tomorrow morning early i will do cardio(25mins) and another session after school, I look forward to logging over the next 20 days :)

Hey Dylan, good job for getting back on track and making a plan for future exercise and diet!
