Geovicsha's Diary - New Years Resolution.

Man, what a power walk/jog. I went all at it. Worked up such a sweat. I'll post the proper diary entry later tonight.

Afterwards I came back and weighed in at 88.8kg, which is always pleasing to see.

I often find that my weight is down if I weigh after a walk but before eating. It is a good way of getting a drop on the scales. Since I go on a walk every morning - my normal daily weighing takes place after my walk.

You would enjoy seeing 88.8Kg We all enjoy a new low.

Friday, January 25, 2008

Today I reached a new low after my power walk/jog which was 88.8kg, and it remained soon after I had dinner. However, it is now back at 89.6kg, which is still steadily below 90kg. :)

After my walk my dad said I am getting slimmer in the face, which I modestly denied as I have only lost about 4kg-5kg or 8lb-11lb. Was odd for him to say that was that was the first time of a direct mention of weight loss, before I was referring to it as "getting fitter/healthier".

Cheers Margaret, it's so pleasing to see such support from someone as successful as you thus far. It means a lot.

Will post my diary tomorrow, just been reading about my Uncle Toby Whole Oat's which I have for breakfast.

It somewhat concerned me that it was been advertised as a "high carb" cereal on the website I found. Do these nutrients seem fine?

It was Australia Day yesterday and I somewhat let myself down by consuming a barbecued fat sausage, and had a few beers. Arghh, and yes, I do regret it. I drank in moderation, but that sausage was the only option at my friends place for dinner. Sigh.

On the plus side, I took advantage of my friends pool and not only did I playfully swim around but I swam laps and played some ball games with friends which required energy.

This week I shall pick back up my game. The birthday (well birthweek) celebrations end today.

Later tonight I'll post January 27's diary, very proud of my jog. I'll get more on that later.

It was odd, as the day progressed my weight was going up, even after exercising. It put me off initially but I'm realising now that not to focus too much on the scales otherwise I'll drive myself insane. I started off at 89.3kg in the morning and I ended up at 90.6kg after dinner. Arghhh.. Punishment from the beers, sausage and the white bread? Water weight? I'd like to hope so.

Thanks for reading guys, now I go on the search for pedometer!

The jog/power walk was pretty good today, the only downfall was I decided to go a somewhat different route and ended up being chased by two small vicious dogs. I outran them though, haha. :(

I'll post the results tomorrow morning. Hope we are all well.

I started off at 89.3kg in the morning and I ended up at 90.6kg after dinner. Arghhh..
The scale is ALWAYS going to go up at the end of the day.. Doesn't matter if you drink only water all day long -it's going to go up...

If you must weigh yourself daily - and doesn't sound like it does you any good to, then pick one time a day to weigh -not mulitple times during the day...

Since this is a diary, I'd just like to write I've been very negative and pessimistic about my weight loss goals. I think it started when dad came home with white rice rather than whole grain rice as he "couldn't find it". Since then I've been somewhat down and concluding that I will never succeed in the goal.

I'm fearful the power walks aren't doing enough, I'm not counting the calories properly and thus not eating right and that no matter what I do the weight won't change.

A good night sleep should fix those thoughts, though. It's just been a very shit day.

Oh trust me Mal, I'm aware how weighing yourself multiple times a day drives you insane that's why today I stopped. :)

Why do you think you aren't counting calories properly? How are you counting them?

eating right shouldn't be stressing you out... Just do the best you can and focus on one thing at a time, like drinking water, or eating vegetables, or whatever.. and everything else will fall into place...

This isa lifestyle change - not a race to the finish... and you'll get there.. if you keep focused on your goals and what you want and WHY you want them... the why is especially important...

The main reason about fearing I'm not counting them is because the lack of food measuring scales and unsure of what dad is exactly feeding me (especially in stir fries). One of the main reasons I'm excited about going back to Uni.

Surprisingly, I'm loving eating right. I haven't had one single major craving since I started in early January.

I know it's a lifestyle change and permanent weight loss is much like the tortoise and the hare story, but sometimes I have spontaneous episodes of impatience and eagerness which results in negative moods.

Thanks though Mal. :)

Diet

Problem with living with dad (as much as I prefer living with him and in my hometown) is the uncertainty of what I am exactly putting into my mouth and the quantities of it. This dilemma gives me something to actually look forward to when I move back to Uni. Dad got "white rice" which contains more carbs, but it's nothing drastic. Right?!

Breakfast
Oatmeal - 112 cals
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 glass of skin milk - 42 cals
Total: 291 cals

Lunch
Two lettuce, tomato, wholegrain bread - 350 cals
Total: 350 cals

Snacks
Fruit smoothie (1/2 banana chopped, 7 strawberries, one glass of skim milk) - 200 calories
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 an apple - 38 cals
Total: 376 calories

Dinner
Chicken Stirfry
Carrot/Peas mixed - 85 cals
Corn - 50 cals
Sliced Pineapple - 50 cals
Sliced mushroom - 16 cals
Sliced brussel sprout - 25 cals
Chicken marinade (breast and thighs) - 250 cals
White rice - 250 cals

Total: 726 cals

Water
3 litres+

Grand Total: 1,743 cals

Exercise

Couldn't record an accurate distance and calories burnt as when I found my pedometer the stats were reset, how bizarre. I decided to take a different route along a channel and realised I was parallel to a slum street. One of the fences was knocked down and two feral dogs started chasing me, fortunately I out-runned them fearing for my leg. :( but :cheers2:

Went shopping today and bought more strawberries, apples and more cereal. I think I got all my daily intake of protein and fibre. Correct me if I am wrong.

Grand Total: 1,575 cals

Exercise

I jogged more consistently than I have in years, perhaps ever. A couple weeks ago I have written how I would start jogging when I reach a field so I am not seen, and I would get puffed before I reach the field. Furthermore, I fear my shorts would fall down as they are getting loose.

This evening I went across the whole field then down a couple of blocks. I think I feel most puffed after I stop jogging rather than when I am actually doing it. That gives me such motivation to push myself.

However, there is a problem. I've been averaging about 1,200-1,250 steps every 10 minutes, allowing 7,200-7,500 in an hour. When I had my jog and checked from the last 10 minutes I realised I only gained 1,050. Wouldn't I have gained more because of the jog, moving faster and thus my feet? Maybe the pedometer wasn't able to keep up? Any input would be helpful.

Still, I'm so pleased for the first time since this fitness I decided to jog down a residential area with people in sight.

Normal Walking

Seem to be in the low 90kg's again today, I'm going to assume it's water weight as I think I've had a bit of high carbs and sodium lately. Ah well. It's a long road, baby. :)

Only had 3 hours sleep last night due to a very early driving lesson and not being a good boy and going as early as I should have, thus I was very tired and exhausted and my exercise wasn't up to scratch as per usual.

Diet

Oatmeal - 112 cals
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 glass of skin milk - 42 cals
Total: 291 cals

Lunch
Two lettuce, tomato, wholegrain bread - 350 cals
One apple - 75 cals
Total: 425 cals

Snacks
6 strawberries - 34 cals
One apple - 75 cals
Fruit smoothie (one banana, 6 strawberries, 1/2 cup of skim milk) - 214
Total: 323 cals

Thursday, January 31, 2008

Hello to any readers I have out there! Today I had about 12 hours sleep, and I weighed in at about 87.5kg/192lb.. My lowest to date! :) I know it might be due to the amount of sleep, but it's always pleasing to see a new low figure, as we all know?!

Tomorrow I am going to see comedian Ross Noble about two hours away from where I live, so there won't be any diary tomorrow. He's very funny, you guys should YouTube him if you haven't seen him on TV before. :)

Diet

The basic routine food I usually have, although dinner was a tad different.

Breakfast
Oatmeal - 112 cals
One banana - 138 cals
1/2 glass of skin milk - 42 cals
Total: 291 cals

Lunch
One lettuce, tomato, wholegrain bread - 175 cals
One ham, lettuce, egg, pineaqple cucumber, onion, carrot whole grain sandwiches - 325 cals
One apple - 75 cals
Total: 575 cals

Snacks
8 strawberries - 45 cals
Total: 45 cals

Dinner
Mixed vegetables (Green beats, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) - 80 cals
Two rissole - 500 cals
Total: 580 cals

Water
3 litres+

Grand Total: 1,491 cals (I should have a smoothie before I go to bed)

Exercise

Power walking / Jogging

Tried a couple of jogs in between the power walk again, and did it done a residential street. I can't last longer than two minutes or so as my heart is so puffed, I think I need to slow down as it may be faster than a jog and more of a run/sprint. Still, I wouldn't even dream of saying I would jog down a street a couple of weeks ago.

I don't think my pedometer counts all the steps when I jog, as I didn't average the 1,200-1,250 in 10 minutes when I had the two jogs.

Steps: 7,473
Distance: 4.619km
Calories burnt: 275.8 cals
Duration: 60 mins

See you all on Saturday,
Shannon
