Any advice for a target heart rate?

Hey guys.... I go to the gym someplace between 2&3 am so there aren't too many people to talk to about this. I have been trying to keep my heart rate about 130 but that has just been my best guess. when I first got on my diet I was 425 pounds and I lost most of it just by walking and cutting the grass and things like that. Now that I go to the gym most of the cardio equipment has the heart rate monitors built onto them and was wondering if I should try to bring it up a little more or stay where I'm at? Being such a large guy (380) It doesn't take very long to get my rate up to 130-140 and it feels pretty good but I feel like I could do more. I really don't know the difference between the fat burning and the cardio but more seems like better. But thats just my uneducated guess..... what do yall think??????????

Don't worry about the fat burning and cardio modes - it's overrated hype.

A simplified heart rate maximum is 220-age, then work at a percentage of that (like 65% for example)

However, at your weight, I would strongly suggest getting checked out by your doctor first. I see you have lost some weight by walking/general life activity (bravo to you!). At this point, you may need to start upping the intensity a bit in order to see continued wt loss, and you don't want to do that without first making sure everything is going to cooperate (that's important:)).

Make sure you stay where you could talk to someone who came up to you (not panting to the point you can hardly talk). Also, stay where you can control your breathing (in your nose, out your mouth) -again, not just panting and gasping.

we have done an EKG and all kind of other things. She says I have a great heart it's just carrying way to much. She told me stay out of a hearts working load which is 217 or so because those numbers come from athletes doing controlled test and not someone carrying 200 extra pounds. So I can ramp up ten or 15 beats per minute and see how I feel....... I just wanted to make sure the 130 was enough to do anything. I thought it was because I lost 8 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Now I just need to lose the rest of the 32 pounds I gained back and keep going..... Thanks...

First off I'd like to say congrats to starting a healthier lifestyle. I have gone rom 410 to 320 currently. On Topic: My Heart rate is is usually 130-145 when I do cardio. But, I am also on clen and T3. More intense weightlifting will bring that up.
