gallstones

i know this isnt really "off topic", wasnt sure where it belongs really.well it looks like i am going to be one of the unlucky percentage of people who develop gall stones after weightloss.
i couldnt get them when i was "fair, fat and fourty", no i had to wait until i was 40 something, more grey than fair and considerably less fat and i thought more healthy. certainly my asthma is much better these days.
its not 100% sure, but i have been getting these violently painful attacks after i sometimes eat more fatty food. after a particularly bad one which lasted most of the other night i went to my gp. he reckons it is almost certainly gallstones, though ive got to have an ultrasound.
im getting a bit freaked because a. it involves surgery, aneasthetic etc. although he did say id probably be ok for keyhole due to my weight loss. (gotta be positive) and b. ill have to take time off work which means i dont get paid.
ive learned my lesson this time and wont be eating any fatty unhealthy type foods for the forseeable future, which cant be a bad thing. gotta have the op though if i need it as i cant imagine never being able to have a slice of pizza or a grilled cheese sandwich ever again. slim

my mom had the same kind of attacks etc for years, and dind't want to have another surgical procedure (She had back surgery a while back). My great aunt sent her a recipe to follow for 3 days (she did this over the weekend) and she passed the gallstones and hasn't had any trouble since then. I can ask her for the information if you want.

I honestly thought it would be kinda dumb, but when she started passing them and hasn't had any problems in 2 months, I realized it probably was a good thing.

Sorry you are having these problems. I know how mom was when she'd get one and it wasn't pretty or easy.

thanks photocrazed, never had pain so bad, give me childbirth pain anyday.
i would certainly be interested in the information re the recipe - thanks. can only try and i have heard of people occasionally getting rid of them via diet or at least by medication. ive only ever had 1 op under general anaesthetic in my life. - on my teeth and i managed to wind myself up so much before hand i was terrified. cos im a nurse and ive worked in theatre before i guess in this case a little knowledge is a bad thing. slim

I really hope this helps you.

This cleanse really works. I suffered with gall stones for quite some time simply because I didn't have time to spend recouping from surgery. I devoted 3 days to this flush and have not had an attack since. --she did this in Early May and she used to have attacks 3-4 times per month

GALL BLADDER CLEANSE - 3 DAY OR WEEKEND
Clean colon before beginning cleanse
Colema or colonics helpful

FRIDAY: Drink apple juice - all day. Eat Applesauce, Pears or Pear juice (Prunes or Figs optional)

HERBALS: HYDRANGEA - 2-3 caps 3x daily --- promotes break-up of stones
CASCARA SAGRADA - 1- 3 x daily --- herbal laxative
GALLBLADDER FORMULA- 2 - 3x daily --- for gall bladder cleansing and gas

SATURDAY:Same as Friday except at night just before bed---blend 4oz virgin olive oil with 4oz lemon juice. Chase with apple or grapefruit juice and 2-3 ice cubes. Lie on right side to sleep (Do not skip this step!!!)

SUNDAY: Morning - you will usually pass gall stones in 12-24 hours. Take enema if nothing happens. The stones look like small green peas and they do float.
Diet--same as Friday, Monday add vegetable soup.

Note:All of the above herbs can be found in most herbal shops.

This is exactly as my mother typed it to me. except the blue part.

thanks for that photocrazed. i will give it a go, if i can get hold of the ingredients, but it will have to wait i think until i have at least 3 days off work as i fear i maybe spending most of it on the loo.
out of curiosity, has your mum tried to eat some really fatty foods to test it out? slim

She's had fried fish, pizza, fried nachos ---all of these things previously would make her have a severe attack. She was diagnosed in 2005 with the gallstones and decided she finally had to do something.

Even after she did the cleanse, she went to Greece/Turkey and ate anything she wanted to eat there and never once had a problem. She doesnt' watch what she eats now.

She said her stomach was uncomfortable all the time even when she didn't have an attack and when she did, she was out of commission for hours.

Mom said you can go online and order the herbs through a company like Nature's Sunshine and have them shipped to you.

cheers, well it seems like your mum has got rid of them. seems i can get away with with small quantities of biscuits or crisps but stuff like butter, cheese, pastry, pizza slice etc seems to set me off even in smaller amounts. i`ll have a look around my local health food shop on payday see what they have got. slim

Hi there,

I had my gallstones removed by keyhole surgery in April this year and honestly there is nothing to worry about.

I was in hospital one night and althought it was uncomfortable I can't really say that it was painful, certainly not like the attacks you can et when you eat fatty food.

Go for the op, you'll feel much better for it and you can hardly see my scars now and it hasn't even been 4 months yet.

I feel fantastic now, just need to get back to some more weight loss!

Hope this helps :)

x

hi Scrazzer and thanks :) . i feel a little more reassured with you having had the surgery - first hand experience so to speak. at least keyhole surgery isnt as bad scar/ recovery time wise.
regarding the pain of gallstones, terrible and it seems to last for hours. i guess i would rather have the surgery than keep going through that. slim

I didn't know you could pass Gall Stones.....

I have Gall Stones...developed them a few years ago, about 18-19 years of age.

Had an ultra sound a couple of years ago for another "problem" and they came across my Gall Stones.

Hmm
