Gains are slowing, help!

I have been working out for a few months now and have experienced good results visually, through strength and through standing on the scales.

However my gains have really slowed down.

It has just taken me 2 weeks just to gain 1lb (may not be 100% accurate)

At 1 point I was gaining around 2lbs a week!

How can I keep things going? My lifts are making good progress it is just my weight gain which has really slowed.

It seems as if I was made never to weigh any more than 140lbs!

There is a thread somewhere around here, where it was said that 1-2 lbs (of muscle) a month should be considered very good, and optimal progress.

Arrrgh I wanted to be 150lbs before I go on holiday (3rd July)

I don't think that is going to happen now :(

I won't have all the ladies chasing me on the beach like I dreamt about :(

Its called the law of diminishing returns. The further on you get the slower your gains get. Plateus will become more frequent. You have to up the anti.

Your progress sounds fine, forget the weight bit for now anyway and pay more attention to the lifts. If you continue to progress with your lifting then you will gain weight.

how much you eat will dictate how much you gain. Dont measure progress in weight gained, because you dont know how much is muscle, and how much is other stuff (fat, water, etc). 1lbs a week sounds fine, personally, i think 2 lbs a week is a bit much, i tried that and gained alot of fat.

Okay, so I should just concentrate on eating well and lifts, If I hit a plateau then I should adjust either my diet or my routine correct?

yeah. If you notice that you are not gaining weight, and you want to bulk, then eat more. If your lifts start plateauing, then its probobly your routine, but im not saying that changing a diet from average to good or from good to flawless aint gonna help.

Not done bad at the gym today,

1 month ago I was benching 50kg (110lbs) and struggling for 3x5.

Today I benched 50kg(110lbs) x12, 54kg(119lbs) x8, 58kg(127lbs) x4

So I am making progress

:D

Is your strength plateauing too?

Might be wise to back off for a week. Either some deloading or strategic deconditioning.

ETA: They are correct above though, nutrition is going to be the primary driver of which direction your weight is heading.

It is not my strength that is plateauing,

It is my weight gain which seems to be slowing.

I keep getting stronger which is good.
