Full body taking too long?

I started my new full body workout yesterday and it took just under an hour to complete. Normally i do some SS cardio after my workouts for about 20-30 minutes. I didnt yesterday because i was afraid I might start burning muscle instead of fat. Is this a legitimate worry or should i still be safe to cardio.

Also, my next scheduled day to do my WO is on wednesday, but i have plans to play racquetball. Whats a safe way to do both racquetball and weight training in the same day without overtraining?

The ideal workout duration is 40 minutes or less. Ideally, you would do your cardio on a separate day. If you have to do it on the same day, try to separate them by as much time as possible.

i guess i wanna know, if im doing more damage than good if i do cardio after these workouts.

Im not sure i can make them any shorter. I workout with friends at home, so, i gotta spot them for some exercises in between sets.

Do you have a post workout shake? Are you looking to burnfat? If so cardio after a training session is a GOOD idea.

I thought if workouts last longer than an hour, you will start using muscle as fuel? does this only apply weight training?

Yes I have a PWO shake. 100% whey.

maybe you can superset- like do benchpress then move right into dead lifts then move right into rows then rest 1-2 minutes. this made my full body w/o fly by 2x as fast

Working out with other people is good for rest between sets, you literally just switch on and off (if the timing works out ok). 40 minutes is not the ideal time, 40 minutes IS fine, but the ideal time is the time it takes you to get through what you have planned - IF you have a good plan down.

What I mean is that if plan out your workout intelligently, you should be fine in however it takes to get it done (not a few hours...obviously).

thats good to know. now how about cardio afterward? should i skip it and leave it for offdays? Or will it be ok to do 20-30 min of SS cardio after a 1hr WO?

Ideally, it would be best on off days, but if that's not possible, it's ok to do it after you lift. But if you're too tired, don't go killing yourself, know when you need to stop...obviously.

Don't worry about it. One day won't hurt.

When the topic of overtraining is brought up, it's with the understanding of continuous overtraining.

The occasional day of overtraining is nothing to worry about because your body will normalize.
