From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Thanks Mystic! We ended up with snow yesterday.

Reverting back to the crappy pattern of earlier this month I have been sticking with the program running, but eating too much.

2/24
Day 90
1.65 miles

2/25
Day 91
2.6 miles

Both of these runs were really slow because of the ice and snow. Managed to not bust my butt and keep the streak alive.

Day 92
1.37 miles 12:30
1 mile time 8:48 PR (-7 secs)

Okay the big news. A bit premature, but I give my 2 weeks notice tomorrow. I've been offered a position at my wife's firm which is a big promotion and pay increase without the travel of my current job. I'm nervous, but excited. I will be supervising a couple of people from day one. There is more risk with being at the same place, but there is also more opportunity for me there. I look forward to being chaleneged again.

That's awesome, Q!!!! Being challenged is important, and it's great that you see that as a positive thing. Good luck with the transition, hopefully it goes as smooth as possible for you.

Hi everyone and thank you very much! I am quite nervous about the change.

I haven't been back on task again with the food yet, but I'll be at 2,000 or less today. I haven't been on the scale and I think I will stay away from it for a while and focus on the calories without worrying how bad I've screwed up.

I have kept the run streak up.

Finished the first loop of the trail and it is .24 mile long. It is pretty tough. Especially after swinging an axe and machete for a copule hours right before the run.

3/1
1.28 miles

I was feeling beat up from the trail making and run and it was cold and raining. Niether of us where feeling it, but we both got it done.

No excuses for the diet. March will be 100% 2,000 calories a day. I will make myself wait until March 31st to weigh. I haven't run very many miles the last few days, but I have worked pretty hard despite that. I volunteered to go to south TX tomorrow to give the guys I'm leaving behind at work a break. So running and eating will be a hassle. I won't miss south TX at all. I hate it actually. For every cool thing I see there are a dozen shitty things in between. I hope this last trip isn't a nightmare.

You're doing great Q!!! I've also committed to not weighing until 3/31. I'm doing 1500 cals per day and biking 6 days per week (walking on treadmill if it rains). Hang in there when traveling. That always throws me for a loop. I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting a month to weigh. I find I focus on what I'm doing more when I'm not watching a number.

Thanks BugDude! I should give you credit. I was thinking in vague terms like "a little while" and then thought about you not weighing until the end of March and decided that was a good plan. Hopefully we both have a big month!

Good luck on your trip, just don´t think "o well, last time anyway" too often when it comes to food...

That was super generous of you, to volunteer for south Texas. Are you taking any time off between jobs or just heading straight in to the new one?

Congrats on the new job, Q!!!

As for the food, keeping up the exercise does mitigate some of the damage overeating can do to your progress as your body probably welcomed some of the extra fuel you'd been denying it. Obviously denying your body that fuel is the whole point (so it will go after some of the fuel it's stored up), but nevertheless it does sort of reset things and probably makes it a little easier now that you're back on the calorie deficit. It's when you eat everything in sight AND stop exercising that things can go south in a hurry.

Enjoy whatever it is possible to enjoy down there in south Texas.

Fantastic report on the new job!! I've been considering looking for a new job as well, but have the same hesitations as you. Nerves. I'm very comfortable where I am. Too comfortable really. I think it may be time for a big change. Just have to work up the courage to do it!

That's really awesome news, Q, congrats! Don't let the nerves get you, the new guy's allowed to make some mistakes as long as he's aware of them and owns them. And as supervisor, you can make your reports fix your mistakes!

Great job on the running streak, too!

Hello and thanks everybody! I've been AWOL from here while in south Texas and not behaving very well on the diet front. On a positive note I just ran day 100 for the streak and I made a new PR with a 8:26 mile. I finished with a little slower running for a 1.5 mile total, but I think the new PR is like half a minute.

Sorry for not keeping up here or with any of your diaries, but south Texas sucks and I won't miss it! The trip was a huge reaffirmation that my choice is a good one.
