From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

With all of that working and running you're doing, I really think it's possible you're adding more muscle which is kind of offsetting the weight (fat) loss. If you're clothes are feeling better, that's really a better indicator of how you're doing. I know we all want the scale to give us good numbers, but the darn thing doesn't always want to do that.

Glad you made it home safely! I live in New England where we have freezing rain and snow pretty regularly during the winter. I honestly wouldn't expect it in Texas!

You're doing great, Q. You're doing all the right stuff. The scale will catch up when it wants... it has a mind of it's own. lol! Keep doing what you're doing. It's obviously working if your clothes are fitting better! :)

Thanks Cory!

I'm rather pissed off at my 326.4 weigh in this morning. I worked very hard this week and my pants fit better than they did last weekend, but I have a 2.4 pound gain. I'll keep moving along, but I'm not happy at the moment.

I have to drink 1.3 gallons of water a day to get the full points in the contest, so that should undo any water retention I might have.

HAHAHA, that's so much water. If you drink that much, your bladder is going to haaaaate you.

Thanks Mandy! Texas is a big place Amarillo in the panhandle gets pretty harsh winters (I lived there 5 years), but usually San Antonio is pretty warm. Here is kind of in the middle. It was cold running tonight and the low is 27. Not New England cold, but not warm. We had a couple days 14 degrees, but it has also been in the low 70s for the highs some days too.

Thanks Jen! I really appreciate the support.

Cory, that's the furthest I've run in my adult life.

Chef, I'm like a fountain. Usually I'm pretty drunk when I pee that much.

Drank all my water.

Run

no hr as the watch wasn't set right, but in the aerobic zone. Tonight sucked. I was beat and it was cold. I think I need to take a break the day after a 5K for the time being. It sucked, but I got it done.

I got hit with a snow storm passing through Amarillo once, and Texas' dept of transportation is not nearly as well equipped to deal with such things as some of the northern states. New Mexico was worse.

Amarillo has there crap together compared to San Antonio which is sad. I had a very long trip from Eagle's Pass in NM to Amarillo following a snow plow out of the rockies.

I can only imagine what would happen in my city if everything converged at once and we got a couple of inches of snow (which apparently does happen every 20 years or so). The place would completely lose it.

At the moment the weather is absolutely perfect. Sunny and 73 degrees every day is why I live here.

I got 2 separate compliments from 2 coworkers today on how I've "slimmed up". This pleases me especially in a time when the scale isn't showing much results.

I also notice that my focus and mental clarity seem much improved. It's an odd thing to notice a marked change in, but I found my body exhausted and my mind aflutter last night. I ended up concocting odd limericks and riddles until I finally drifted off.

A couple riddles:

My answer varies with each sundry query, but a look at my face shows no sign of ruse. What am I?

Pebbles and boulders rest on their shoulders. Great men their brows furrowed in time. What are they?

If you want to answer a riddle PM me in case anyone else wants to do the same.

An odd limerick on politicians:

Your lies reek of verisimilitude
and your truths of balderdash
Your days are numbered
as you'll soon be encumbered
with the satin of the partisan sash.

Okay back to work!

Congrats on the compliments! :]

You know, I notice the same thing sometimes, especially after exercise. I love how clear my head is.

Running when it's 29 degrees is 0.00% fun. My hand were very numb by the end. I wore enough clothes otherwise and covered my mouth so my asthma wasn't as bad, but breathing was belabored a bit. It sucked, but I got it done.

It's an amazing feeling to get compliments out of the blue. We all know that we're busting our butts to lose weight, but when the people who don't know start to notice it's great! They always seem to come when you're most frustrated too. :)

It certainly helped me to go run last night Mandy. It helped me to say see it's working regardless of what the scale might be saying at the moment.

Speaking of, I am back at 324.0 this morning. I dropped 9.2 pounds the first 17 days of January and now I've been stuck around and above 324 for almost 2 weeks. I haven't been counting calories the whole month, but my diet is very strict. Hopefully the scale will move by Saturday. My clothes continue to fit better so some positive changes are occurring they just don't involve a change in my relationship with gravity. I found that one of my size 40 jeans that I got back into the second week of January are now too loose to be worn without a belt and I can take them off and put them on without unbuttoning them. They will need be donated soon.

Great job Q! Seems like you are making progress but the scale doesn't want you to know. I'm sure it will drop lots and soon, but more importantly hurray for compliments and pants becoming loose! :)

Thanks Icy!

2.9 km

Below freezing again but mostly I ran when I knew my body needed a break. It was all I had to finish and keep my feet from dragging. I'm honestly surprised I made 2.9km as every step felt slow.

I may not post for a bit because my wife is in the hospital tomorrow and I'll be looking after her while she recuperates.

I will take a much needed break tomorrow with some bodyweight stuff and stretching at a minimum. It will depend largely on how she is doing as to what I may do or post Friday and the weekend.

Glad you were able to fight through your run. Those are the days that I really feel proud of myself. Just knowing that my body didn't want to do it, but I fought through it. I hope you feel the same way. :)

I hope your wife is ok. Completely understandable that you may be MIA for a bit. Don't forget to take care of yourself too!

Thank you Mandy! My wife is doing well.

I'm happy with my improvement. The first 5K was 6 days ago. This felt good and I decided to go without the heartrate monitor. The phone app I use for distance/speed lags, doesn't do the audio alerts it is supposed to, and deducts from my time and mileage when I do the final save adjusting for "moving time" because it tracks gaps in the GPS signal as me standing still which I don't do. The timer matces my HR watch when I use both, but it then deducts both time and distance when it "corrects" for time moving erroneously. I'm ready to get my gps watch.

I am going to drop out of Omega's contest. The food logging is a hassle, 1.3 gallons of water is too much, and I want to take a break from that asshole the scale and just count calories and keep running. That and a half hour of running 5-6 days a week is plenty of exercise, but doesn't count for full points. In short it's just not for me. Sorry team orange!

Quercus, I hope your wife is ok. Don't worry about the contest. Sometimes it just doesn't fit with whatever else you've got going on in your life.

I'm still so psyched about the 5k. It's a goal of mine to run one at some point.

The wife is doing well. Thanks! I know dropping is a good move for me right now, but i wish that I wouldn't have joined at all so I wasn't quitting on my team. You'll get to the 5K and likely with a much better time than me.
