Plenty of good advice out there for strength training. However, you need a solid foundation first or you are going to hurt yourself. A reasonable amount of conditioning is required before you can seriously strength train. By conditioning, I mean put some meat on those bones, some muscle mass, and a bit a fat to protect your joints. I know this is not what you want to hear, but without preperation, you will likely get hurt. Best case scenario, without prep, is very limited gains due to an early plateau.

No one can get decent long term results without a diverse training agenda. Read up on periodization.
