I am here to focus on my goals. I would like to eat healthier and by that I mean, eating more vegetables and fruits and less sweet treats. I would like to increase my activity level and get in more exercise.

I am not happy with my weight. I have gained weight and most of the clothes I have do not fit anymore and it's beginning to affect my self esteem. However I have made many unwise choices in the spirit or goal of weight loss, so I don't want to do that anymore. I struggle with having enough energy to be a functional person and so feeling well is my top priority.
Right now I am facing a few health issues. I am taking meds for my thyroid and a few other vitamins supplements for debilitating fatigue.

Hi sassykat & welcome to the forum. Feeling well is a good goal & that includes building your self-esteem. Think about nurturing your body & taking really good care of it. If we feel better about ourselves we are better able to cope with the world in general. Once you cut down on the "sweet treats" & eat more fruit & veg the weight will come down. Baby steps....every little change for the better is....a change for the better. You can do this :)

Hi there,

I've just returned to the forum after a long absence, and I also am aiming to eat more veggies etc and less junk.

We can do this!

Yesterday I managed to get in a good day of healthy choices food wise. I have weighed 144.5 lbs pretty much all of March so far.
I did strength training this morning and had a protein shake made with water, 1 scoop of protein powder, 2 cups of spinach, 1 Tb coconut butter, some stevia and 1 cup of frozen berries. This week I'm going to try cutting back on most grains (except quinoa) and sugar. I do plan on taking the day off of eating this way for Easter. I want to make a nice meal for my family.

I haven't been feeling very well lately. I've been feeling stressed out and having feelings of anxiousness and depression. I think it may be due to the thyroid med I am taking. It's just a small amount so I think I will skip it tomorrow and see how I feel. I am a little afraid that I may feel very tired, but if I can get by with a B-complex to help with energy until my body adjusts I might feel better in the long run.
Diet wise things are going well as far as my weight going down. This morning my weight was 142.3 lbs. I may be a little dehydrated so I do expect my weight to go back up.
I've been reading the book "Eat Fat To Get Thin" and trying to follow some of the guidelines in the book, but it is very restrictive and I feel that there really aren't many options. The science of it makes sense to me, that insulin causes fat storage and foods that trigger insulin are therefore fattening. Foods that are the most satiating such as fat and fiber do not trigger insulin. It makes complete sense, however the suggested food guidelines are so restrictive I don't think I could follow it exactly. I do think I am taking a lot of good away from it and it will help me eat more veggies, healthy fats, protein and ...the most important less sugar.
