Flubber B Gone.....

When I started this I was a serious caffeine addict. I would drink minimum of 1 can of cola per day, usually 2. I switched to tea at the beginning to stop the cola/caffeine cravings. That tapered off over the first two weeks and since then I am almost totally caffeine-free.

It makes me wonder that maybe as we treat our bodies better, they start feeling better and we don't need that jolt to stay alert and feel good.

Just musing.

I think you're right about not "needing the coffee jolt" I've had some serious energy lately. I haven't been going crazy for chocolate like I used to either. It used to be my "go to" when I was feeling down. Hopefully, this upswing is here to stay.*crosses fingers and toes!*

June 24. First Day of Summer Vacation

I woke up early and had a TON of energy. Where did that slow moving morning person go? Just read an article about exercise and depression. I've been going to my taekwondo classes for a year, but really kicked my at home exercising up a lot, could this be why I'm feeling great?

In an effort to start off the summer vacation nutritionally great, I made the kiddos vanilla/blueberry/ground flaxseed smoothies and handed out their vitamins. I snagged the remaining smoothy for myself and added my vitamins and fish oil to it. My liquid vitamins are a cool swamp green, from this point forward just to amuse myself it will be lovingly known as "swamp juice." lol

Lunch: Salad: Picked baby kale from the garden/mixed w/ spinach, red pepper, raw green beans & carrots, tomatoes, chic peas, black olives and a half of last nights bbq ribblet. Tried a new low fat poppy seed dressing, tasty! Could NOT believe it had less fat than my usual italian. Had a cup of left over soup w/ it too.

(yay mom moment: the kids said their plates looked like a picture:) They had turkey & cheese roll ups, w/ raw veggies and olives cutely placed between the rollups, colorful! And a little bowl of soup and crackers.

I'm trading in the Total Gym today for my rotary mower...lol It's hot out side and I want to get out an enjoy it. I thought I'd help my husband out w/ the trimming. He is SO going to make fun of me for using this old fashioned mower, don't care, it works and it's working me out too.

UGH I mowed.......think I'm gonna die! We have a bazillion trees! The kicker, my husband said it doesn't look as good as w/ the real mower...nice! Vaccumed the pool...I feel like a raisin!

Too tired to cook, ordered pizza blah

Survived yesterday, still irritated w/ my husband, it's knocking the wind out of my sails a little. Will find my happy place anyway dagnabit.:toetap05:

Made breakfast for the kiddos and myself. For me, scrambled eggs and leftover saute'd kale and my "swamp juice" lol My little guy is intreged w/ my juice and says it tastes pretty good if you hold your nose when you swallow it...lol For the kiddos, I made scrambled eggs/broccoli/smoked cheese.

Off to hop on the Total Gym and will watch the introductory p90x video during to see what this is all about. Me thinks, I will start it next week *shudders w/ fear!*

Off to start day, will return shortly.........................
It's a grr day, the appliances and the vehical are plotting against me, throw in the husband. I may go hide under my bed.

Lunch: 2 wassa rye crackers w/ peanut butter and organic grape jelly and a handful of chic peas w/a half tomato and a splash of italian dressing.

I've been tracking my diet on MyPlate, but it's still hard to wrap my head around the fact that some fats are good even though I know they are, same w/ carbs really, and I know they are fuel. I shall try to make friends w/ them instead of giving them stink eye.

heyy!! ur very dedicated... loved reading thru ur journal!! ok question... ur 140 now... thats such a good weight(for me...) so i was just wondering... whats ur height? dont worry im not the preachy kind who will start on height and weight and all that. was just wondering...
oh and another thing :p u said u lost 28 pounds running? how long did that take? ive just started running myself, been 3 weeks now... 20-30mins a day. i haven't lost anyweight yet, and of course, im not expecting anything so soon, but itll be nice to know how it goes :p do let me know!!
all the best with the taekwondo, i did it myself for an unfortunately short time but loved every minute! yayy... keep going!!

Hi Surya:seeya:

I'm 5'8" which is probably a good weight for me too, I'm good according to the bmi scale, but I do have some wiggly jigglies that I want to get rid of one way or another. I didn't lose the weight from running, that is a relatively new thing for me, can't say that I like it though...lol I lost it via 2 methods over the course of 2 years 1) changing my diet to vegetarian and 2) taekwondo. My husband runs everyday and it irritated me that he could do it and I couldn't, so being the competitive sort that I am, I started chasing him...lol Due to my dislike of running though, I've been substituting w/ some other cardio, like jump roping and working out on my heavy bag. I just ordered the P90X series too and will start that at some point next week (looks scary good..lol) I believe in baby steps toward good health and weight loss is best (as you can see by it taking 2 yrs to lose 30 pounds...lol) but, once you find something you can live w/ perminantly the pounds will stay off.

Hey, it was nice to meet you. Stop by again:)

Popping in to say "hi". I responded to your carb thread ... but didn't want to read your journal w/out saying anything. It just seems rude! :D

Feeling great today:)

Started off the day w/ a chocolate soy/whey/rice milk drink...yummy.
Enjoying my coffee and on the fence as to what workout I want to do. I haven't been out to the heavy bag in a couple days BUT the P90X dvds are staring at me and I am excited to get going on them. I don't know if the first one will require hand weights though, I only have little 5# ones so I may hold off until I get my complete set Monday. The anticipation is killing me though.

Off to feed the kiddos while I ponder the day........
Nothing really goes as planned, does it?
Instead of exercising, I got into some aerobic house cleaning and laundrying doing...lol
And this was going to be the day that I started cutting down on those carbs, BUT my husband brought home a 8 qts of strawberries. So I ended up having some of those on my shredded wheat w/ a few almonds on top. Delish, and nutritionally probably not terrible, definitely NOT low carb or low calarie...LOL

My Lunch: Chic pea salad w/ spinach in a whole wheat wrap, about a half cup of soup (see below), baby carrots/raw green beans/raw broccoli.

For the kiddos: I have a neat trick! My son loves Ramon Noodle soup, but those little packets of "what on earth is that" freak me out...lol So, I make my own broth w/ water, a squirt of Braggs Liquid Aminos, dried minced onions and garlic powder. He likes broccoli in it too, then the noodles. He calls it "squiggle noodle soup." I made my other son salmon salad (better than tuna salad!) w/ spinach leaves on whole wheat bread and the same raw veggies as me.

Back to cleaning the house....my son's first play date tomorrow:)

I fell off the wagon and it ran me over! I'm ashamed to admit what I ate for dinner. But I did, so here goes...... My husband wanted subs. So I went and bought the ingredients, for them turkey and salami (yuck!) and had one too, but mine was veggie of course. I had the deliciously nasty white bread sub roll (small size, but still!) w/ shredded lettuce, tomato, roasted peppers, sliced green olives and smoked swiss cheese. And what's worse, after I ate it, I wanted more! So I made all the ingredients again on my plate w/o the roll. I am a pigglet!!!! OINK

laughing butt off!!!! Just tracking my daily pigfest on the daily plate. This is the first time my carb/fat/protien ratio has ever been pretty good.

Totals: cal 1,252 fat27g chol 95mg sodium 2,381mg carbs174g sugar 30g fiber 23g prot93g

obviously I went nuts on a lot of it but the ratio is 53.3 carbs/28.3 protien/18.67 fat.

Still not a good day, but just laughed at the ratio because I've been unable to attain it on good days, but do on a bad one...oye.

hello again!! :)
i like this slow and steady approach of yours. though i say i'm too impatient etc etc etc, the 10lbs i've lost... i did it over 6 months myself. and i KNOW its gone forever!!

I wish I had access to a heavy bag. I started to learn to box a while ago and then my gym took down their bags and closed the boxing room. *sigh*

It's a great workout, isn't it?

It really is! I have mine hung out in my husbands barn/music studio. You wouldn't believe the lobbying I had to do to get him to give up that corner! I take a 1 minute timer out w/ me and do each drill for a minute, then on to the next alternating between upper and lower body. I do this for 30 minutes. It really wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I got the bag from Amazon.com for $100/free shipping and it's a 100 pound bag so that was great. I did pay a little bit more for a wall hanger, it would have been less if I could have hung it straight from a beam on the ceiling. There are stands too. Highly recommend, it's way fun.

I dropped the kids off at Theature Camp this morning and spent the day shopping. I haven't done that in years! I did skip breakfast other than my cup of coffee because we had to be out the door by 8am. I grabbed a veggie sub on the road, another narly white bread roll, but at least it was just filled w/ salad.:driving:

I decided to buy myself some summer shorts, mine are currently being held up w/ a belt and look rediculous. I could NOT believe it, I got size 6s!! When I started out I was in a snug size 12 and could have easily worn a 14. I almost did a happy dance right in the fitting room!

I also bought my hand weights, so tomorrow the P90X workouts begin. I'm really excited.

I'm making huge salads for dinner then off to Taekwondo...
Slight change of plans: skipping Taekwondo, we're bushed! and we had bean burritos for dinner. Yummy:)

Hey girl! Just checking in on you! I so need to buy some summer shorts too! I am so jealous you are a size 6! I am hovering around a 10/12, depending on the brand.

Oh my gosh, you will have to keep you journal updated on how the P90x goes! I am so interested to see how it works! Keep up the good work!

I probably just got lucky because of the brand, but it said it and made me happy...LOL How silly is that!
Totally not silly! :)

Right now I wear mostly a size 12, but I have one pair of pants and one skirt that are size 10s and I grin every time I put them on. I'm just hoping that by the end of this summer I can drop from double digits to single ones ... which will make me even happier! :D
