Fitday website must smoke weed

lol, I noticed a few of you used this site, so I decided to give it a test, OMG. It said I was suppose to consume 4250 calories per day per my lifestyle and activities. There is no way in a monkeys butt. I usually get about 1/2 that. That is impossible, I would literally be eating all the time just to make up my loss. Am I doing something wrong?

I never used it to it to calculate my calories needed. Where do I do that? I don't see it. Hm..unless it did it already. If it did its telling me 2200, which would be maybe okay if I weren't trying to lose and I was exercising everyday. Maybe.

Don't think I did anything out of the ordinary. I went to the website set up an account, put in my data. Added in a general day of foods for the calorie counter, my activity info, and it has a spot in one of the tabs can't remember offhand which one, maybe reports, and it said my daily intake should be a LMAO 4250 calories. For the day after exercising and food to this point I am negative 2900 calories. Don't think my next two meals will cover that maybe 900-1000 more. I am so lost by this standard, I am well into starvation mode and have been for 3 months. Something is just not right.

Okay I went to a tab that said reports, within that tab there is a section that says calories burned for that certain time frame day/week/month etc. It showed my daily calorie intake should be 4250 each day based on Basal, lifestyle, activity. You should be able to find it there.

There really is no one size fits all number for people - those calorie calculators tend to give you a range.. and based on where you're coming into that range from -ie if you've dieted a long time or been sedentary a long time - it doesnt take into consideration previous lifestyle...

and it's possible that you overestimated your calories burned... and underestimate your calories consumed...

Not sure exaclty what you mean. All I did was input my info, listed the activity, and noted what type of lifestyle I have. It just took me off guard, I can understand some data as being off, but 2000 calories off.

I am really consistant on what I eat. Only real change exercise wise was from going to a long recumbant bike ride of 40-45 miles, too two 25-mile bike rides, I am not trying to bash a useful tool, as I am sure it helps many people out there, in particular the calorie food counter, I just feel something is off and the calorie intake range was way off and for me personally unrealistic.

I do write a daily food journal (yes measure as well)and used thier calorie counter to add my usual days intake, input the activity data (biking), my age, height and weight, sex, and it popped up this information. Perhaps I read into the numbers too much.

the numbers given on many of those calculators are for "perfect" conditions within a person's body.. and no body is really perfect...

You have to use your judgement to come up with a range of calories that works best for you - in my estimation, it's always better to go with the higher end rather than low end so youcan adjust if you have to.

It's kind of like the calories burned on exercise equipment -it's rarely accurate - it might be close enough for some but other people -not so much... it uses estimates and calories burned on those websites are also estimates...

I understand what your saying. It just took me off guard. I think the thread is coming off too negative and that was not my purpose at all as I am sure many people gather important information from that site as they do from this forum/website. I guess when you mix too many tools, and information it is easy to get caught up in the numbers. I do not want to do that, I want to go off of experience, measurements and my energy levels. But as a curious George by nature, I am always looking for some new information.

at first is was just weight loss, now it has become more of a passion than anything else. Just love spinning and adding the weights in small amounts until I get to the fat ratio I am looking for. Then I will slowly progress to more weight training than cardio. What's on your mind steve , I can see the wheels spinning in your head.

Also joined a bicycle club as I am looking into long distance rides with others, possibly even start doing some novice racing in my area, for fun, nothing more.

Well training must match goals for it to be effective. The best looking program sucks monkey balls if it's not aligned with an individual's goals.

That said, if you're going for an optimal physique, I'd say less cardio and more emphasis on weights, depending on how you have your weight program structured.

That's also assuming you're going for that 'ripped' look... and not the puny ripped look. But ya never know.

good point , but to date I am getting the physical charactoristics (sp) I am looking for. I am losing overall body fat, I like the biker look(except the cloths) muscular yet lean legs, slimer on the top, still call this plan my 6-pack plan, but so far I am happy with the results. I will point out ,for now, all weights I perform are all lower body. The main reason for this, is srength on hills, and some mass on the legs in my opinion is a good thing. And no I am not at the point of shaving my legs, no offense to others that do.

Hey is your interview coming up with Lyle. Keep us posted, I am excited for you, congrats again.

I'm going to start interviewing Lyle this weekend I believe. But it won't be up for a bit yet.

Thanks.
