Fitday calories burned through activity

According to their calculator, running for 30 minutes at 5 mph burns 239 calories. The calorie burn calculator that I normally use estimates it at 362. That's a huge difference and I thought maybe my usual calculator, Health a-z might be overly generous. But every other site I use has very similar numbers to that one and fitday consistently comes in waaaaayyyyyyy lower.

I know it's just a numbers game and the number given doesn't mean anything at the end of the day...(the calories will have been burned off my body or they won't have) but accurate numbers sure would help me to plan my exercises, diet and expectations.

Why is fitday so much lower than other counters??

I'm not a fan of any of those sites. Reason being: They are all estimates of which people give a lot of weighting to. I'd stick with the numbers that are consistent.

The most important thing you said is, "It's a numbers game."

If you aren't reaching your goals, you know you aren't doing enough or you aren't limiting your calories enough.

Sorry, but the only way to accurately tell how many calories you burn in any activity, is to wear a heart rate monitor.
Calorie burning charts are aimed at people of a certain weight...generally 150 pounds, and are extremely vague at best.

Thanks for your honesty Steve. The answer I really wanted was to believe those bigger numbers that most sites are giving me. :)
