Correct Bench Press Form?

I have been lifting for about 3 months now and i dont think i've been using correct form on the bench press. I tried searching on the internet, but couldn't really find a good description. So can someone tell me what i need to have correct form for the bench press?

Check out this site bro. ExRx Exercise & Muscle Directory

Damn, thanks for the link AJP. Kinda made me realize I should pay more attention to my form on the bench...hmm, can't wait for tommorow, I think I have a problem with the elbows flaring out...

Yup, most people have incorrect form at some point, and (coincidently) most people have shoulder problems at some point, inflammation, etc...and sometimes it's just from too much pressing, but the elbows flared can and does contribute to that.

I've been lucky not to have any shoulder problems at all, but I spose I have been just asking for trouble with my form, its good to know I can prevent it, at least on the bench...

i bench in the "body Builder" style, from the those lil video clips. I never had a problem with it, aslong as you aint doing more weight than u can handle, i dont see it being a problem. And i find that it shapes my chest better than thee "power Lifting " method.

Yeah, not saying you definitely will get injured, and injuries don't happen after benching once. But it's very likely that it will add to your chances of being injured one day...eventually. Something like 80 something percent of lifters have shoulder problems eventually, I'm too lazy to find where this was...

That exrx example is pretty bad...

the first one I knew of the top of my head was eric cressey's shoulder saver series on t-nation. It shows how most people do it, incorrectly, and then how it should be done.

scroll down (or read the whole thing) about 1/3 of the way.

Thanks, this is perfect. I'll post my results i get after i go tomorrow.
