Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Wow...you are almost out of the 220's altogether! Unbelievable! Is it my imagination, or is your accumulated deficit to lose getting smaller?

OMG. Those scales!!! I can't see the gods fighting back much with the weekend you have planned either. This is exciting!!

Ahhh, it's truly nice to see others scales going down. Those gods are so happy with you and I don't blame them, you work your ASS off everyday!! Great job, once again!
Kim

Thanks to all of you, my charming and beautiful friends! :hug2: :hug2:

Cym, yes, it sure is nice to see the teens so close. But truthfully, I'll be very happy if I'm there by September or October. The Scale Gods are surely going to realize that they've allowed me to get too far ahead of the game.

However, I do plan on kicking them in the balls this Sunday, that's for sure!

Wow thats a long bike ride. I'm excited for you!

Those terrible scale gods have been playing tricks on me.. They're telling me to sacrifice a few extra calories, but I'm not fooled. I know which way the scale will go if I do.

Weight: 225.4 - I guess the Scale Gods have returned from vacation, LOL. Yesterday I ended the day with a surplus, and that must have been the clarion call for them to strike. No biggie. . . I'll beat them back down over the next few days.

Yesterday's numbers:
Food - 2,915 calories
Fat: 125 gm, 38%; 31 gm saturataed, 9%
Carbs: 275 gm, 36%; 31 gm fiber
Protein: 166 gm, 23%
Alcohol: 10 gm, 2%

NARM: 2,299 c
Exercise: 0
Surplus: 616 c
Deficit for July: 9,745 c

I think it's just fine to have a surplus on a few days out of the month. It keeps the body guessing, and perhaps convinces it you aren't starving. I imagine this is especially important if you rack up fairly large deficits from a lot of exercise.

My average deficit so far in July is 541 calories a day, which is the highest I've ever had.

I read an article about people who do long distance cycling and use that as their only form of exercise. They found that they had hearts and vascular systems of teenagers, but bones of septenarians. Appaarently, they are massively calcium deficient. Over the hours of cycling, they sweat a lot, and lose calcium. Their bodies take the calcium from their bones.

The answer - weight lifting, of course. They found that long distance cyclists who do regular weight lifting 2 to 3 times a week don't have that problem. So even though I missed my squat/deadlift day yesterday, that was only because of Sunday's ride, and after that I'll return to my normal schedule.

I talked to S. last night. I've known her for over 50 years, and she truly is my "sister". She went on the Death Ride in Death Valley last weekend - 139 miles, over 5 mountain passes, with more than 15,000 feet of vertical climb. It took her 14 hours, which is just awesome to me. She's 51, too.

Sunny, I don't understand. You mean you think your calorie intake is too high now, or too low?

Kick em in the balls again for Kim!!!
Come to think of it, they might not have been on vacation; maybe they were spending the whole time taunting Kim! :D

Call me biased...but I tend to think "the answer" (regardless of the question LOL) is always "weight lifing of course"!

OMG You are so right. That has got to be the answer cos there simply is no other explanation.

That information about the cycling/weightlifting, calcium thing is really interesting. There can be so many tricks out there to surprise us.

Likewise I loved hearing about your friend. That Death Ride sounds so amazing. What a brilliant feat.

You need a surplus day, dammit! I'm just trying to convince myself, LOL! I'm such a heathen, to spare my mental state I have not been weighing and won't until I feel like it again. It's dangerous, but I'm going by my clothes and how I look for a while. Yesterday I had a light dinner, after being cranky about my accident.

I'm with you and CYM, "The answer is ALWAYS weight training"!!! :rotflmao:

LOL, subbing for Steve while he's gone, eh? :)

Yeah, just when you think you know a lot, there's something else to learn!

On top of that, the heat was way up there -- around 100 deg. F. Almost all of the riders were cramping up really badly, even with all kinds of supplements. One of the passes, Ebbet's Pass, has a 12 percent grade at the top. I'd have a tough time even walking up that!

Yes, those naughty Scale Gods have Kim tied up and are tickling her with a feather--Bastards!!! Kick em in the balls, Tom!!

Yes, your friend is a pimp. 51 years old????:eek2:

Thanks, Beth. I don't want to brag, but so far they have made a very weak showing in July, and they only have 11 days to get their act together.

OMG Tom, your right, those MEAN, MEAN Scale Gods have been haunting my house for weeks, it's about time they fly the coop and find some other place to make build their nests, I'm done with those most unwanted guests in my house. I am sorry that they found their way back to California, I think there is a conspiracy going on here, hmmmmmm You know I biked 8 miles last night and it said my average speed is 14.5 miles, is that decent? Oh it was in 34 minutes on a stationary bike of course. LOL LOL

LOL, maybe I can keep them preoccupied over here for a few days so they leave you alone! :rotflmao:

To tell you the truth, I stay off the stationary bikes at the gym, so I have absolutely no idea of what's good or bad, decent or indecent. Well, I have an idea about what would be indecent on a bike in the gym, LOL. :)

But any change in your cardio routine will probably help shake up your body a bit.

We're so funny on this thing!! *grabble grabble* Eat more! *grabble grabble* The answer is weight training! *grabble grabble* Everything in moderation!! Tee hee hee!
