First stop: Spartan Turkey

Cate, like I said, if my numbers are still bad at the next blood test, I'll probably start monitoring.

LaMa, I started to clench the cheeks during my rowing. Can't say I feel the difference this morning, but it's kind of strange feeling during the rowing. I think my rowing was a little heavy to focus on it, but I will start working the glutes.

I made the mistake of mentioning to my wife that our neighbor needed help due to a dislocated shoulder yesterday. It was going to be a quick run over to pull her air conditioner out of the window. Unfortunately, when my wife hears someone's injured, or needs help, or whatever, she immediately assumes they need cookies. So I came home to the sound of the Kitchenaid whirring away and knew she was baking up some Little John Heroin. Luckily most went over to the neighbor's, but there was plenty left for me to binge on. Those damn cookies.... It couldn't be salad or sushi, could it...

Anyway, silly of me to blame her, I'm really not, I'm just venting.

Weekend plans are fairly loose - I have a free day tomorrow, that might involve hiking or it might involve a movie. Weather and mood-dependent, really. Might be able to fit both in. Sunday, again weather-dependent, might be a medallion hike with my daughter. I don't think we'll be able to do all 10 of them this year, but next year we'll have more time to plan it and think about it.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Damn that COOKIE MONSTER. I have a wife like that too. Why can't we feel the same way about salad as we do about cookies? That would make things so much easier. Maybe there is something in that- chocolate chip garden salad or peanut butter coleslaw- nah that sounds terrible. Apparently we have to have self control- what is with that???

I think peanut butter could be the base for an awesome salad dressing. I won´t be making it, because peanut allergy, but in theory it would get you a creamy and umami component that could work well.

Hey LJ - sorry about those delicious cookies you were forced to eat :p Sounds terrible! I'm a shit baker (good cook though!) so my American husband lives in constant depression that I'm not providing him with sweet treats. We aren't as into our cookies in the UK.

Sucks about the cost for medical treatment over there.. still can't believe America hasn't got their shit together with free medical care over there. It's insane to me. Anyway, have a good day my lovely and good luck with ze healthy eating xx

Sunflower! Welcome back! You look terrific!

Not much else to report today, or this week, really. Just making it through, trying to eat right, barely able to get my desired exercise this week due to schedule conflicts. I'll try to be more engaged tomorrow.

Peanut butter coleslaw? Interesting.

Have you guys ever had a peanut butter BURGER? You take equal parts mayonnaise and peanut butter - microwave the peanut butter for a few seconds to warm it up, mix it with the mayonnaise, stir it together and put it on top of a freshly cooked hamburger patty (top it with bacon too if you'd like) and eat. It sounds disgusting, but it's one of the best things I've ever eaten.

This has been a frustrating/disappointing week, if I'm being honest. I have only been able to exercise three times this week (I'm used to one rest day/week). Furthermore, my food's been terrible. The scale showed it, I'm up about a half pound from last week, and I'm not happy about it.

I just found out my wife's car has just been given a short life expectancy, and I can't afford a new one right now, courtesy of excessive debt. We've been quoted $1000 to take down a big oak tree (which is, sadly, a good price, but it might mean we get firewood next year). And Christmas is coming. Sigh... I'm going to Puerto Rico for a week next week, and I'm going to have a hard time eating correctly there, let alone finding exercise time.

Also my back hurts. Wah, life is too tough sometimes.

I´m sorry about the suckiness. But you CAN stick to doing the things that are good for you. In fact: in the longish run you make life easier for yourself if you do so. Don´t want to end up like your wife´s car. I know I´m preaching water and drinking wine here, but I´m trying to get back on track because life is so much better when I have energy and things don´t hurt so much.

LaMa is right LJ. It is at times like this, when nothing seems to be going right, that you have to take extra care to look after yourself. Eating healthy & getting in that exercise will lift your mood & things won't seem as bad. You'll get through this, xoxo Cate

Thanks ladies, I'm feeling a little more grounded today. I've come to terms with the new car, and I do have time to deal with the tree. Christmas... I don't know, just need to get a budget together, I guess.

Also, my lovely wife spent some time wringing the cramps out of my back, and I felt so much better.

So in light of the low performance this week, I was able to (and still am able to after lunch) go in a notch on the belt that used to hurt. I'm liking that. I'm also continuing on the lifting regime that I like - those negative reps are doing a good job. I think I'm going to formalize my lifting regime and bump it out to twice a week, need to think of some back stuff, something to supplement/enhance rowing.

We are tight for money this year so have just told family we are doing less expensive gifts - people don't care, don't worry. Hopefully the new car won't be too much money.. Kudos on the smaller notch on the belt - that must have felt awesome :)

I´m so glad we don´t do gifts...How is that still a thing for grown-ups? Most people spends more than they really should and most people end up with a lot of stuff they don´t really need. Unless it´s gift cards, in which case... why bother exchanging pieces of paper/plastic when you could just be spending your own money on the things you wanted/needed?

We don't do gifts between adults & I just give D, our son, some money for the kids. Well done on the belt notch LJ.

I hear ya on the car situation. We're currently dealing with that. It sucks. I wanted to have a new one before winter hit, but it's not looking too likely right now. ugh. I hope you get the budget working for you! Congrats on the belt notch! :)

Negative reps can be excruciating. It has been a while since I did them but I remember them well. They work though. Good job on the belt notch. Sorry to hear about the tree and the car.

Funny the older I get the less I seem to want or need. I think Christmas is for kids. Now that my kids are all older and I don't have any Grandkids we usually draw a name with a limit and just buy for one person. I always buy something for my kids that they need. Other than that I would rather put the money that my wife and I would spend on each other into a holiday fund and go somewhere tropical when we have enough.

Hola from Puerto Rico! Quick check in, no real exercise other than higher-than-average walking. I'm actually happy with my food choices this week, tho.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hola, LJ! Well done on making good choices while away from home :) The extra walking is also a good thing!
