First stop: Spartan Turkey

Made it home, had a reasonable snack, no compulsion to binge. I AM looking forward to leftover pizza in the fridge, but that can wait until later.

I did 36 minutes of rowing last night, which almost countered my dinner (pizza, ice cream, nothing good).

I can say the new meds are helping on the binge front. I've had a couple minor binges, but nothing compared to before I started taking it. Last night my wife came home with the remnants of a sheet pizza, probably 12-14 squares. Pre-med me would have housed 4 pieces, and 2-3 more later on. I had one piece, that was eat.

Frozen lunch today: more peas. Really getting sick of peas!!! Open to ideas for other frozen/freezable vegetables to add to the lunches, right now I'm using broccoli, cauliflower, peas, Lima beans. I don't really like peppers or zucchini/summer squash. What else can be frozen? Or are there any ideas on pre-prepping veggies to give a little extra something?

Yay for binge prevention! That makes a LOT of difference calorie-wise (I can easily gain a pound of actual fat in a single binge...)
I don´t know what you add your veggies to, but I love red cabbage (frozen) and red beets (boiled and vacuum-sealed). Tray-baking root veg works really well, it´s not a lot of work and they then still keep for several days in the fridge. Also onions.

G tray bakes lots of veg & they keep well for days(if you can resist eating them all). Potatoes, sweet potatoes, swede, carrots, parsnips, small zucchini, mushrooms, onions, pumpkin, cut up in varying sizes, depending on how long each takes to cook.
On a baking tray, covered with baking paper, spread them all out(except for zucchini & mushroom), drizzle with some olive oil, some salt & pepper, fresh Rosemary & thyme & bake in the oven, fan forced at about 175-180C for about 20 minutes, turn them all over & add the zucchini & mushrooms & cook for a further 20 mins. Absolutely scrumptious & can be added to omelettes or re-heated in the microwave. They are yummy!

A more personal observation on my new meds. Not only a binge-blocker, but I've been more... amorous. We're usually in the once-a-week club, but I have a feeling the numbers will increase, in spite of the predicted decrease in drive.

Anyway, I know you were all dying to know about that. Good day calorie-wise and exercise-wise. After the tally, I was down by 150, which makes up for Monday's overage. I lifted last night, and I think I'm going to feel it in the next day or two. I included planks, and at my weight, that's a helluva core builder.

Thanks for the veggie pointers, ladies, roasting vegetables is a great idea, adds a good flavor. I'm looking to limit my carb intake a little bit, but I'd happily throw in some roast potatoes (white or sweet) into the mix. LaMa, how are you doing the red cabbage? Not just raw, I assume.

If I´m not too lazy and buy it frozen it gets chopped up fine, then boiled with a little sugar, vinegar, some cloves and a chopped-up apple. Nom. I personally like adding ginger as well, but then I´m crazy. Austrians add lard and waaay too much salt :puke: I guess it works well as a slaw, too, which would also keep well in the fridge, but I´m not very good with raw veggies.

About the "personal" observation: I´d say that´s a sign your brain and body are doing better, which can only be a good thing!

Thanks!

Cabbage isn't a popular thing around here, so frozen cabbage is not an option. I'll see if I can get a mini or half head of cabbage and give that recipe a go - is it freezable?

Last night was a double-whammy challenge, and I wasn't prepared for the second whammy, otherwise I would've handled the first whammy more betterer. Allow me to paint the picture:
  • I had a great row, including some race-speed pacing for a full minute (if I can do 7 more minutes at that speed, I can compete in February in Boston).
  • Upstairs to the delightful smell of turkey tacos. Mmmmmm tacos, and I have the caloric budget to have more than I should after that row!
  • Ate 5 tacos, because tacos.
  • At the end of dinner, my daughter reminds my wife that they're still supposed to make chocolate chip cookies. F#ck.
    • Worth reminding readers at this point that my wife's CCC are obscenely perfect.
  • Avoid the cookies like an ex-GF at a wedding (and you're both alone in this metaphor).
  • Finally, I heed their call, and down 4 of them with a glass of milk.
  • giphy.gif
I felt bloated and annoyed. Tho not furious/ashamed, cuz I could easily have doubled or tripled the milk and cookies count, so I lost, but it wasn't a shut-out.I hope you all enjoyed the play-by-play of last night.

He starts on the red cabbage just after 4 minutes into the video but the whole thing is nice if you don´t like veggies.

Oh man, LJ. Warm chocolate chip cookies and milk- one of my favorites. Used to be my 'go to' food. The recipe LaMaria gave you for the red cabbage is delicious- we make that as one of the dishes for Thanksgiving. It freezes really well.

There´s always a new day... No matter how far we move in the wrong direction, we can chose which way to point our feet anew every day. Probably read that on an inspirational wall tile in someone´s bath room, but it´s still true.

Yup, that one day was a bad one. The rest of the weekend, while not exactly good, were as expected for a weekend (a long weekend, at that, hence my radio silence).

So I get back on the train today. I made up a whole lot of frozen meals, somewhat inspired by LaMa's video - I roasted large amounts of potatoes, sweet potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli; I sauteed large amounts of onion, red pepper and Brussels sprouts; I brined* and grilled lots of chicken breast; and I grilled lots of pork chops. Then the starches and meats were cut up and reasonably portioned across an ocean of food containers, topped with any variety of vegetables, and various sauces. I have enough frozen meals to get me through the next three weeks!

I didn't weigh myself this morning, but that's probably OK this morning.

Great to see so many people back here from back in the day! As for the chocolate chip cookies, the only way I can possibly contain myself to just four, is if there's none left when I inevitably head for #5. They're one of those foods my willpower is helpless against. needless to say I don't make them at the house...

Keep up the hard work, LJ!

I gotta get back to prepping some meals. I was doing it for a while and now it's been 2 weeks without doing it. It definitely helps me to stay on track if it's pre-planned.

Good day yesterday: clocked in under calories, and did my first bout of HIIT rowing in a long time.

Waiting around in jury duty right now, not fun....
