First stop: Spartan Turkey

Sigh.... What a weekend. Camping got canceled because my daughter ended up with a "Severe Head Injury". She fell off my weight bench and hit the back of her head on the tile floor. Took her to the hospital - she's fine, but was under orders to rest all weekend. That means no camping, so we did yard work instead, and ate way too much the whole time - basically the camping food we were supposed to contribute to the group was a lot of the junky stuff.

In the grand scheme of things, I weigh the same I did at the beginning of the weekend, but I'm not happy with myself and the way I ate poorly the whole damn time...

Ouch! That must of hurt.. poor thing! Sorry about the camping! Good job on keeping the scale the same though, that's a win in my book. Especially where a holiday and junk food are concerned. :)

Bad luck about the camping trip LJ. I hope your daughter is feeling OK now. Put the weekend behind you LJ & eat healthy & you will feel better xoxo

I´m no good at remembering birthdays, sorry! Hope you had a ball and all these health, wealth and happiness things people can use in new years.

She's doing OK now, still on orders to rest. My son, not to be outdone, took a header into a ceramic planter last night. Big goose egg, but otherwise OK.

Yesterday was another D+, given it was my birthday. Making up for it today with a hardy salad for lunch, and not much else until dinner. Tomorrow will be similar, as this weekend is Boys' Weekend with friends. I can choose mostly wise foods (in a seaport town, so plenty of seafood), but there will be alcohol. We usually manage to walk around a lot for these weekends, too, and I can try to get up early one morning to go for a solo walk.

While all these events aren`t helpful for weight loss, they are part of real life and add more than just calories. Maybe we shouldn´t compare them to perfect days but to the way they would be without having a plan in place. Have fun!

When I first read the title of your new journal all I could think of was this...

Spartan is the grocery store brand carried in the grocery stores around where we live.

Also, what's with your kids hurting themselves? First, your daughter 'falls off your weight bench' and then your son 'took a header off a ceramic planter?' It sounds a little suspicious if you ask me. Let me guess, the next thing that's going to happen is your wife is going to 'fall down the stairs' or something?

Doctor: What happened, Mrs. John? How'd you get the black eye?
Mrs. John: (looks cautiously at you)
You: (glares back at her with "DON'T YOU SAY A WORD" eyes)
Mrs. John: I umm...I got hit with a baseball?
You: (smiles and nods approvingly)

Sorry, it's late, I'm hot and I'm tired, HAHAHA

My aunt actually did fall down the stairs, went the hospital to be sure nothing was broken and everything was more or less ok but they wanted to keep her under observation for a couple of days anyway... It wasn't until the third nurse was rude to my uncle that they figured out they were trying to keep her safe from him until she'd tell "the truth" Well-meant, but luckily unnecessary in their case.

Now now, I get to yelling a lot, but I'm definitely not physical about it (OK, maybe a couple of spankings, but then I realized that makes no difference).

Boys' Weekend was a blast. I definitely over-ate, but I also got a lot of walking in. Added bonus is that my friends are in decent shape and walked a decent clip. Our rental was about a mile into town, and we walked into town a couple times each day, plus walking around town. So there was that.

Lots of salad this week, though, got to make up for that.

In-shape friends make life so much easier... Mine have the added benefit of mostly wanting to eat somewhat healthy stuff. Glad you had fun!

I'm glad you had a good weekend LJ. In-shape friends are a good influence :D Ahhh, salad weather.....I miss that already!

Lunch: salad and Coke Zero
Dinner: salad and Diet Coke (and two slices of small cheese pizza - I had dinner at a pizzeria, so I call that a win)

Rowed 50 minutes. I need to improve my stretching habits, though. My right foot is naturally prone to sticking out at 45 degrees. Left one's perfectly straight, so you can definitely track my steps in the snow. But if I stretch my arches, Achilles, etc., they both kind of work out to around 15 degrees from center, and look fairly normal. So what's the big deal? On a rowing machine, my feet are strapped into a straight position, so the whole time my right foot is fighting to angle outward, causing a lot of pressure on the outside of the foot, which fekking hurts pretty quickly.

I don't have too many challenges coming up this week in terms of self-control, which is a nice way to enforce a habit I've been otherwise struggling with. It's tough to get on a good track when so many temptations are at-hand.

:( Sounds painful... Motivation really is everywhere, isn't it? Your knee will probably thank you for straightening things out, too. Good luck with your first "normal" week!

Nothing new to report, staying on the path. Overdid it a little last night, but it was planned and I had healthy lunch and breakfast. Was a rest day from the rowing.

Staying on track today, that's about all I have to say today!
