Female workout

Hey guys i'm asking this for my sis, now that she's decided to join me at the gym. She wants to build lean mass and lose fat...wondering what are some of the excercises good for a female and how she should break it down. I don't want to give her my opinion on excercises as I'm not sure what she should be doing. Help is appreciated :)
 
Hey...In order for us to help you, we will have to know the following: How old is your sis...what shape is she in (did she go to the gym before? is it her first time exercising) and how much fat, and I think by fat you mean weight, she wants to lose. Then I will be able to tell you what routine to use and how often.

Hey there...She's 27, she's never been to the gym before. She joined couple of months ago, but she has hardly been going. She's 155lb, and 5'2. Its cool to see a Bally PT's response, since we go there :)
 
The best weight loss routine is called high volume routine. This is where she does exercises with little or no weights at all many times, as an example I will take legs. The best overall exercise for legs, in my opinion, is the squat. When performed properly, it works the quads, hamstrings and glutes. For it to be affective, you want to start up with about 15 reps and work your way up to 50. Then add some weight, and do it again.

Since she joined several months ago, she is most likely entitled to one free personal training session with a trainer. He/She will show your sister what to do and how to do it properly. See you PT Coordinator for details.
