Feeling a little overwhelmed...

Hello all,
I've been lurking on this forum for a couple of months now. Long story short, back in March I decided to get my life in check when it came to my health. I'm just about 5'7 and at the time I weighed 272 lbs. I'm now down to around 235 lbs. I've been hovering around this weight (give or take a lb or two) for about a month.

I feel like I eat decent. I have cereal every morning for breakfast (Cheerios with Skim Plus milk to be exact). I eat either a Roast Beef or Turkey sandwich, with Light Mayonnaise on Wheat Bread for lunch (sometimes I'll have two eggs on Wheat Bread). For dinner, it's usually either Steak, Pork Chops, Chicken Cutlets, Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs with Mac and Cheese. When I have Cheeseburgers or Hot Dogs, the rolls are wheat rolls. I do generally have Mashed Potatoes with Steak, Pork Chops, or Chicken Cutlets although the potatoes are very light on salt, no butter, and has Skim Plus milk. I don't really snack in-between and I don't eat after dinner (which is usually between 6 and 7 PM).

I exercise daily. It's the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning. I originally only walked, for about 25, then 30, then 40 minutes per day. I have recently mixed in jogging within the past month or so. My exercise is still the same distance as when I was walking 40 minutes per day, but about half of it is light jogging.

I've been reading a lot of posts about different exercises that people do. It's a little overwhelming for someone like myself (who hasn't ever exercised outside of the aforementioned walking/jogging). I have a Bow Flex and some free weights in my basement. I'm not looking to become Superman (not yet anyway), I just want to continue to lose weight, especially the fat around my stomach.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. If there's something with my diet that's wrong, a suggestion on that would be appreciated too. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I'd say add more fresh veggies and fruits throughout the day. Also how are your portion sizes, you might also want to check that. And I know, I hate working out besides walking too, but try swimming, you use so many different muscles when you do this. And of course for the tummy, crunches at some point are inevitable, at least a few of them a few times a week would probably help. Good luck!!!

As far as breakfast and lunch go, they're not heavy at all. For dinner, for example, I'll have one steak and two sides of mashed potatoes. What worries me that I haven't lost any weight in a month. I haven't changed my diet at all so it's a little weird.

I'm going to have to agree. Also instead of eating 3 meals a day, you could try eating 6 small meals a day, 3 small meals and 3 healthy snacks like fruit, veggies, lowfat cheese, natural peanut butter or cottage cheese. You could also try cardio 6 days a week and weight training 3 days a week. That's what I've done and it's been working so far. But I also hit a plateau for about a month and was discouraged just as you are but it will pass. Good luck.

Sometimes people just hit a plateau like Englan said, and you have to tweak things just a little to get some results. But I really thing that introducing more veggies would help. And again, your portion sizes really count. For example, a serving of steak should be about the size of a deck of cards, mashed potatoes, I'm not 100% sure, but I think a serving size is like a half a cup or something like that. I know that everyone at some point hits a plateau, just try tweaking a few things if you can and see if it works. Again, the best of luck to you, I really hope you stick it out, and again stealing my girlies words: this too will pass!!! ;)
