hi. i am a certified fatty boombatty. i am 24 and i weigh 275 pounds, OMG! That's a lot, I know. I was sort of a fat kid. lost a shit ton of weight, got married, gained a shit ton of weight. it happens.

I have to lose some major poundage because I don't want to have a heart attack, blood clot or diabetes, etc. Also, I don't know about you, but I hate having to shop at Old Navy, you can only have so many stripped shirts.

so to combat the fat i bought some running shoes and I've been using the couch to 5k app on my iPhone (supposedly it'll train me to run 5k without stopping in 9 weeks), and I've also been using the Lose it! app on my iPhone to track my food intake, it tells me how many calories to eat each day to lose 2lbs per week, which is 2010 calories per day, but this week I've been trying to keep it at 1500, but we'll see how that goes.

I'm slowly learning it's all about what you eat and it's important to keep track of that. First couple of days I was really surprised at how easily those calories can rack up. I must have been eating like 4000 a day to gain and maintain my massive 275 body.

Oh man I've been eating vegetables and lean cuisine. it's helps if i just don't think about cupcakes, chicken wings, or pizza and such.

Well, let's see how it goes! Here are my current 275lb pictures I just took them while eating my lunch. I savored every bite of the shit. and i threw in a picture of my new shoes, worth the price because they really stabilize my knee which is important.

i'll be writing in blog everyday, posting my nightly meals with recipes! let's see how long this lasts!

Hey I am new too! I have been struggling with my weight since I was around 11...so almost 10 years.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss!!

About your poll though, I would definitely say none of those are that healthy. I am the pickiest eater ever (except for maybe my boyfriend) and while those meals claim to be "healthy" and they taste good...they arent all that healthy.

I understand buying one or two for your freezer incase you just need a quick meal..but I recommend going out and buying all healthy food. I dont know about you but I can stick to half a grapefruit, a slab of fish and some veggies for a meal..thats just not gonna cut it for me.

What I recommend is buying healthier alternatives to the foods you already eat and just watching your portions.

For example, I love all the comfort foods (pasta, bread, etc). They say carbs are the enemy but I could never give those up. So instead I have been buying healthier alternatives. I buy whole wheat/whole grain bread with NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (very important to avoid this at all costs) and with low calories and fat. I have found some that tastes pretty great with only 35-40 calories per slice. Get some great meat for the protein..try to avoid the mayo if youre a mayo person (mustard tastes great and its MUCH healthier for you!) Get some veggies on there if you can..I like my veggies on the side.

Also, if youre a fan of pizza...try the organic stuff. Kashi and Newmans Own are really great. I have been getting the Margahrita pizza...its not the healthiest thing but its got different food groups and its like 280 calories for a third of the pizza. and if you eat it with fruits or other veggies you can probably eat less than a third and save yourself a few calories..and you will have a snack for another time.

Sorry if I am rambling on..anyway good luck! :biggrinjester:

they are quite good though! I would just recommend buying one that seems to be the healthiest..stay away from anything above 300 calories I would say..and just try to eat it with something healthier. Like I bought the Mac and Cheese one the other day..its only got like 8g of fat and under 300 calories..but I ate it with a spinach and arugula salad and some fruit.

i've been eating the "spa classics" lean cuisines, they are full of veggies, yesterday's was 220 calories, 5g of fat and today's was 300 cal 6g of fat. they're not bad tasting, not as good as taco bell hahaha.

hahah its true...most of those do not taste as good as some fast food. But I have to admit, as much as I may crave a nacho cheese chalupa or a cheese burger or whatever.. I ALWAYS feel crappy, bloated and extra fat after eating that junk.

And even if whatever I eat now that's healthy and doesn't taste as good and isn't as filling, if I just let go of the idea of needing to be full and needing to eat that "tasty" food I feel so much better and have so much more energy than when i stuff my face full on tasty food.

I don't consider most frozen meals to be healthy. If you look at the ingredients list, you'll see a lot of preservatives and chemicals that aren't in regular food that you prepare.

That's my personal choice, of course. I wouldn't tell anyone that they can't eat them or that they shouldn't. If you're not as concerned about those ingredients lists, then you can find frozen meals that are "healthy" in terms of low fat, low sodium, low calorie, etc. It's all about where each individual person draws that line. :)

Couldn't agree with you more Kara, but I know for some people who are used to eating super unhealthy or even just regular home cooked meals with all the love (fat/calories) cooked right into them..its hard to go cold turkey.

I think some people need to ease themselves into eating super healthy. This is a detox--and I know from personal experience going from eating from dads italian dinners to trying to eat half a grapefruit, 2oz of meat, 1/2 cup of berries, etc is really hard on the body. It works well..but it left me feeling sick and having no energy to work out.

I got my initial success from cutting down the calories, watching my portion sizes and working out so that I was burning atleast twice as many calories as I was eating..

oh, dad's italian dinners! the building blocks of my fat. bad habits start early and are hard to break.

haha too true! Its hard to lose weight with a Dad that loves you "just the way you are"...and his idea of veggies is tomatoes topped with loads of mayo.

Funny part is my dad isnt even that big..hes just a got a big beer gut..the rest of him is in good shape.

Hello :) I took a peek at your blog! My mom is coming to visit in March and that is one of the reasons that I want to get this weight off, too! I haven't seen her for 2 years though so I want to be like how she remembered me when I do see her. Also, have you heard of Jen Lancaster? She has written some hilarious books about her life and has a very comical view towards losing weight and her size - your blog reminds me of her! Good luck on your weight loss!

I bought Magnaslim a month ago after reading Kate Ford had lost 4 stone. I have lost a stone now, got another 2 to go. Definatley worth the money. Its easy to use and it makes you feel great, Ive got a lot more energy. I even managed to get through PMT without eating my usual cakes and chocolate bars!

Wow, at 275 lbs you carry it amazingly well, but good on ya for getting healthy for your health! I like lean cuisine because its convenient and they have lots of options. Although, the panini is disgusting.

Maintaining that weight loss for a year is actually a very incredible feat and should be considered a big succes, so congrats on that! 1200 calories per day is a pretty extreme restriction, especially if you're also increasing your exercise volume.

Good luck to you though, let us know how it's going!
