Hey Everyone

Ok so I'm hoping that by joining this forum and writing regularly I'm might somehow find the motivation to curb my eating and comit to exercising on a regular basis.

I'm 28 and have been overweight my entire adult life. I want to lose weight but I never stay motivated long enough. A few days at best and then I'm back to my old eating habits once again.

I'm not one to count calories, grams of fat or weigh my food before I eat it...so I refuse to do any of that. I believe in common sense (proper diet and exercise) because thats how I managed to lose 50 pounds as a teenager and keep it off for several years.

I love food, it makes me happy and I don't like the idea of having to cut back, but I think I can do it if I keep portion sizes down.

Today I ate a bagel with cheese a and sandwich meat, 2 large pieces of lasagna with some spaghetti squash and 1/2 a bagel with garlic butter. I had 2 large glasses of ginger ale and a bag of Heshy Eggies.

Hi FB (I am NOT going to call you Fat Bastard!) :)
Welcome to your journal!

Like you, when I first started losing weight, I was *not* going to start counting calories. No Way.

Well, there came a time when I decided to at least start - a little.
I really needed to know how much was going in.

I was truly AMAZED at how many calories I was getting - it was actually mind boggling!

Cutting down portion size was a huge motivator for me in the beginning - I lost the first 19 pounds that way!

Best of luck to you and I look forward to getting to know you as you reach your goals!

Thanks M2M

I guess when I say I'm not going to count calories I mean I'm not going to try (at least for now) to keep a journal where I add up my calories everyday. I will however be mindful of what foods are high in calories.

I will keep you posted!

I think it's a great place to start.
Just being *aware* is a huge step in the right direction :)
