explosivness

whats teh point of explosivness in weight training????

I'm not an athlete, I just want to workout and gain mass not tryout for the football team.

it efficiently trains the fast twitch muslces, which are what is used in weight training.

explosive training is effective even if all you are trying to dois build mass.

well, the fast twitch muscle fibers are designed for quick explosive movements, and by doing such movement, you make use of them.

ok i think i understnad your quesion now...if you are asking how to go about training the fast twitch muscles, you just need to do short, intense anerobic activity, i.e. lfting and sprinting.

genetics have a huge part in your ratio to fast/slow twitch muscle fibers. For example, if you can't run that fast and you are in good shape, there is only so much you can do to improve your speed.

If I understand your question, you are saying that explosive training is specific to training for sport, so why should you do it?

Easy answer... LIFE is explosive movement. Every time you walk or run or jump at all, you are doing an explosive movement. Every time you get out of a chair, every time you lunge for the elevator door... You can't escape it, so training with weights doing some explosive movements don't only have to be for football. That is one sport that is ALL about explosive movement, but you don't have to train just like them.

There are all kinds of movements you can work into your routine to improve/increase explosive power. Jump squats, jump lunges, power cleans, snatch, squat jerk... I really could go on and on. I hope I gave you the answer you were looking for.

ya, I think you did somewhat,

appreciate it. I thought that doing explosive movements would help me lift better and give me more definition in my body.
I obviously didn't understand it very well.
