energy foods before workout

whats good to eat throughout the day before you workout. i usually go to the gym around 830pm, and wake up around 2pm (college:D ). What type of foods should i be eating to feel good during my workout? Anything specific to eat a few hours before? Thanks guys.
 
Just got to make sure that you have had a good amount of carbs in the day to give you that energy and get a lot of protein in before hand and afterwards as well. This is focused around the workout, you should really be getting a good amount of fats, carbs, and protein throughout the whole day though.
 
complex carbs are the best if you eat them 1-2 hours before the workout. Things like oatmeal and grits will really keep you going til the end of your routine.

Simple carbs, i.e. things w/ sugar, will keep you going for a little while but then you'll burn out quickly. Avoid fruit and sweets before working out.
 
I usually get up around 10am and go to the gym about 4pm, so its the same time gap for us.

I make sure I est loads and loads of low GI carbs and protein all day, then right before I go in the gym I have a protein and dextrose shake.

I drink dextrose in the gym and right after, then I have 1 more meal about an hour after the gym with low GI carbs. Then I cut out carbs for the rest of the day.
