I jump rope, too. I vary it a bit though so I dont get to bored. I do one min of light jumping, not too fast, but not to slow either. Slow enough to have a bounce before the jump though.
Then I do a fast as I can jump for one min.
Next is a "running" jump, alternating jump foot and kicking out with the other one.
Then I find a line (I jump rope in the parking lot) and jump forward over the line, then backward over it. After a min, I turn sideways and jump to the right over it, then back over it to the left.
Another min of fast as I can is usually thrown in here.
Then a min of either slow jumping or the "running" in place jumping.
Then I do a jump with my feet about 2.5 ft apart, bring them together to jump over the rope, but put them back down apart from each other again sort of like a jumping jack. When I first started I had to alternate jumping with the feet out and jumping back in with them at center. Now, I dont need to and I can definitely tell when I go out dancing! I can do a jump squat during dancing without missing the beat of the song and.. anyway, you dont want to hear about that... I just like to dance.
All above are for one min, then going to the next. I estimate or check my watch when I hit myself in the legs again. Which I do quite often.
I continue this routing for a half hour just cycling back through. I only do it once a week because I dont like to jump rope alone. I feel like an idjit

. So, I'd do it more if I could find someone to do it with me more consistantly. When I really really tire myself out though I just do a sidestep until I'm able to start jumping again.
I use a beaded rope, too. I have a speed rope but dont like it because it gets twisted and then I smack myself in the legs even more repeatedly. Currently I have two bruises on my left leg from my last jump roping. If it were my speed rope, it'd definitely be more than two bruises. I don't know if I'll go to a weighted rope only because I like that the beaded rope doesn't twist on itself on the bottom like the speed rope does. All weighted ropes in stores here are the speed rope type. I haven't looked online because that would require use of my credit card.
