Ellie's diary!

Hello all! I suppose some introduction is in order...

My name's Ellie. I'm a dude from England, I just prefer the name Ellie to the one I use most of the time, hehe. I've tried to lose weight a few times, with various degrees of success. I once was 350lbs, I'm now...well, not. I am however still obese, and I don't want to be anymore. A big revelation for me was the whole gender thing...I'm still getting my head around it all. My sex is male, and it always will be. I like my body. But honestly, I want to be able to wear women's clothing too. I'm 6'2" and broad, as well as fat. As well as the health benefits, losing weight will help me into dresses too.

So, the plan. Gym, swim, diet. I've generally been quite good at exercising, but terrible at sticking to a diet. So hopefully writing it up will help with that. I'm not going to obsessively calorie-count - I have before - because I'm going to be exercising so much more than I have before if this goes well. If I feel hungry I'll eat. The trick is to not eat crap. I can't happily judge the amount of food I'll need yet. Maybe in two or three weeks I'll have a better idea.

The plan is to jog and swim at the gym, and start adding in other workouts after that. I don't want to put on a huge amount of muscle, but some would be nice, so I imagine I'll hit the weights eventually. For now, the big goal is being able to run 5km. I want to achieve this by New Year.

Right...day one, go!

Welcome to the forum ellie, it looks like you have a plan in place, but remember that loosing fat has more to to with your food selection than the exercise you do.

Hi Ellie & welcome to the forum. I know that losing weight for me is not just about being healthier, but also wanting to feel comfortable in my clothes. If I exercise a lot I get SOOO hungry & don't lose weight. I have to find a balance between the two. You'll work it out as you go. Once again a big welcome. Cheers, Cate.

Thank you guys. And yeah, I need to learn a lot more about healthy eating. I've always comfort eaten when I was upset, it's always been my failing before with my weight loss pushes.

Today was really cool. In the early morning, before sun rose, I went to the new local skatepark. I don't have a board - though I think I'm gonna change that. I just ran around and played with all the ramps and whatnot. After half an hour I was sweating like mad and it was so cool, just playing.

Foodwise, I ate a bowl of Shredded Wheat for breakfast, a peanut butter sandwich for lunch and rice with hot dog sausages, broccoli and a tomato sauce full of vegetables. Change is hard, hehe

Food went pretty awfully yesterday, bleh. A Waitrose sandwich, Dr. Pepper, then chicken and potato wedges for dinner. Ah well, time to make big improvements today!

Payday today, so time to get my gym membership! The plan is to swim and jog today, hehe. I'll also put my weight up with the next update, and figure out how much I wanna lose.

Well...first day at gym went well. And then I fell down the stairs. After a hospital trip it seems that I've fractured my coccyx. Bleeeeh.

Weight is 248lbs. Let's say that 210lbs is my goal for now.

That sucks! Look at it as a delay only. Eating healthy is the most important thing you can do. Take care. Cheers, Cate.

I quite agree with Cate. Can work out all you want but if you eat poorly things may not always add up in the end. Just focus on the adjustment to your new eating habits while you're in a period of down time. Keep your eye on the prize. You can power through this episode and get back on your feet. Don't let a little set back stand in front of your ultimate happiness!

Looking forward to being on this journey with you! Hope all is well.

So, seems I'm mostly healed after that fall. I had a tooth removed today under sedation, so now that that's out of the way, it's time to get back to work properly. I now have something to prepare for too! My first ever cosplay event on March 5th, in Oxford. The plan is to go as Kakashi from Naruto. Want to lose as much weight as I can before that, and hopefully be running 5km long before then.

Over Christmas I didn't gain any weight - I stuck to a moderately healthy amount of food each day it seems. My weight remains the same, 248lbs. Tomorrow I'll have a swim - I don't want to run just 24 hours after sedation.

The swim went great - and it was so stormy out today. I had to go run in the wind and rain. I absolutely adore weather like this.

No exercise for the next two days - party and then recovering from it. But that's ok - I need to rest. Still getting over the sedation. Not stopped feeling sick yet.

Rest can be a good thing. Wishing you health. Running in the rain doesn't seem like the safest idea, you could slip. For when you feel better, maybe there is an indoor track someone near you.

H'okay...well, life happened and changing things is hard. Time to start again.

Watching Eurovision, I thought that Jamie-Lee for Germany was so darn beautiful. I want to be able to look like that. So we're back to the weight loss plan.

In the next year, I want to lose 100lbs. 2lbs a week gets me there. I'm 258lbs now, I want to reach 160lbs. I lost 100lbs from 350 to 250 a few years ago, I can do that again. No more excuses, time to actually look after myself properly.

Going for a jog now, food diary later tonight!
