eating more when bulking:it can only help me, right?

eating a ton of natural stuff w/high protein/carbs can only help muscle growth right??? i dont care if my bf goes up kuz i will take kare of that later. I never eat until i am FULL.

to grow you should aim for a caloric surplus. But there is science behind it. Dont just eat whatever. Eating a huge bowl of pasta may seem healthy, but if that is all you eat for one big meal that means you are just taking in a bunch of carbs and probably very little protein.

my macro breakdown while massing is
30/40/30
protein/carbs/fat

6 meals each day, going no more than 3 hours without eating during waking hours. high protein through out. Lower carbs at night while raising fat intake throughout the day.

that makes sense but i have some questions

why do people lower their carb intake towards the night??? i eat more carbs toward the night and i eat a cup of cereal w/milk just before bed.

doesnt it just matter how many carbs you get in throughout the day and not when you eat them???

"...eating a ton of natural stuff w/high protein/carbs can only help muscle growth right??? i dont care if my bf goes up kuz i will take kare of that later. I never eat until i am FULL..."

not the way to go it will only make leaning down harder and longer...best way i can think of is to lean down to about 8% bodyfat 1st then bulk...once your at 12% bodyfat no matter what muscle increase you have, lean back down and so on...it makes no sense to put 20pds on of which is 10pds is fat

As I understand it..unless you are eating an extremly high caloric diet nutrient timing is quite effective.

Your body uses carbohydrates for energy, the problem is, when you consume large amounts of carbohydrates before you sleep, you fill your body with something that it is not going to use...

Essentially what you do not use is stored in the liver as glycogen, the rest gets stored as fat. Im not saying that ALL of it is stored as fat, but eating something like pasta or breads or rice right before bed will likely cause your body to convert it to fat in the end, it just wont use it all.

That is the reason why many people lower their carb consumption over the span of the day. Unless you are working out right before bed, you really don't need too many carbs at all in your system. Post workout you want to replenish your glycogen stores, but right before bed, your body will benefit more from quality proteins like whey or casein, and couple that with some EFA's or poly/monounsaturated fats like oilive oil, flax or Udo's. That slows down the digestion of the protein and lessens the amount of muscle tissue breakdown that we suffer while fasting/sleeping.

hmm that makes sense but...

i have heard eating a bowl of cereal before bed can help your body lose fat

i eat 1 cup kashi high protein cereal b4 bed

where did you hear that?
And have you lost fat? Sometimes dietry changes can spark fat loss. While you might be doing things to reduce fat, you might also be doing things that make you store fat..

i was looking on google.com for websites on how to lose fat; i came upon a website that talked about the contraversy about eating before bed. it was on the side for eating before you go to bed and actually recommended eating carbs and protein in a small meal before bed. they said that when tests were done with 2 groups of people; the ones that ate a bowl of cereal before bed lost more body fat than the group who simply didnt.

idont know why this is or if it is true but i havent seen any fat gain so far.

You probably won't see much unless you do it for a prolonged time period. Now if you actually check your BF % you'd probably notice something sooner.

your body doesnt store carbs and make fat with it; it takes the amount of calories you ate/burn every day and that is what determines if you gain fat or not.
Eating cereal at night just increases the calories for the day

Proteinboy, if you know that, than why are you even asking? Do you realize how many posts you keep making? Could you please just centralize your thoughts and keep it low on posts. There are other people on this forum that need help, all I keep seeing is Proteinboy posts.

you need to learn about this stuff before you can act as though you know what you are saying.

there is more to nutrition that just caloric intake. Nutrient timing actually exists.. and YES your body does store carbohydrates as fat if you do not use them. Sorry homeslice.

Chris Shugart has an article called The Quality Mass Diet which is pretty good. I don't have the link but Google should find it. It's common knowledge to many but you may find it educational. :)

wise choice my man although i do admire your endeavor for learning just don't take everything you read as gospel...there is so much conflicting info out there ecspecially on the net...i know that i post stuff that gets a lot of negative feedback but through my own trial and error and what i've done with my client's, i have a fair idea of what works...obviuosly some things will work for some rather than others but all we can do here is suggest tips to help ypu...untill you actually try it than you can't judge

Your body DOES store fat based on how many calories you take in during the day...as a GENERAL RULE. On this forum though, you will learn that if that were the total truth, then it wouldn't matter what you eat. Think of it like this...carbs and calories = energy. Fat = energy stores. Where do you think those energy stores come from? Unused carbs and polysaturated fats are pretty much the bulk of it. I'm just learning the nutrition behind a lot of this too...so don't feel bad.
