dumbell press questions

hey
for when im doing dumbell press/flyes even shoulder workout with dumbells im unsure about wat weight to use ...

i tried 15lbs each dumbell ... and i guess after alot of reps i can feel it ... but its not really much of a challenge to me ... im just wondering if it is similar to benchpress in that you should put on the max weight so that you almost fail last rep ... or is it different with dumbells ?

hope someone understands my question
I only have a dumbell set of 5lb,10,15 and 20. and i want to know if i should use max weight i can handle for dumbell exercises .. (press/flyes/shoulder exercises etc)
i know for bicep curls that i should use max weight... im just wondern for other dumbell exercises .. thnx

Using max weight in dumbell exercises for the chest, shoulders, back etc.. should definately help to increase your gains. I personally do lower reps where I almost fail on the last rep and my gains have always been good.

Just much harder to do it that way without a spotter, especially on dumbell exercises involving the chest.

Dumbell bench is a great mass builder, it hits stabilizing muscles much harder than straight bar bench press.

Be careful when doing this, your max straight bench will be significantly higher than your max dumb bell bench.

Also, be careful not to sink your arms too deep. Try not to allow your upper arm to break the floor-parallel plane.

aim for doing 4-6 reps, where you use a weight that you cannot do more than 6 reps with but can do at least 4 reps with, meaning you push as hard as you can for each set...then try to do 2-3 sets per exercise but never exceed 8 total sets for an entire muscle group.

Can anyone else vouch for that?
