Dry Skin

Sorry if this is the wrong forum...
I'm 35, male, 168 lbs.
Been weight training for about 6 weeks and have had really dry skin on biceps, calves and oblique areas. Started about 3 weeks into training. I drink a ton of water every day. Anyone else experienced this before? Related to my training?
Thanks in advance!

How much water do you drink each day?

I'm 5'10" ish - 190lbs, I need about a gallon a day. Makes a world of difference in all sorts of areas of my body.

Unsaturated fats are also vital. You need about 20-30% "good" fat in your diet.

Try adding some peanut butter, olive oil, flax seed oil, avocado, fatty fish (ie: salmon) and raw nuts to your diet.

Are you having enough fat?

I would say on average I have a gallon of water as well. Probably not enough fats as suggested. Honestly, I don't keep record of my intake as I probably should. Here's what I ate yesterday (pretty typical weekday for me):

@ 8am - sandwich (whole wheat bread, lean ham or turkey breast, one slice cheese, sliced boiled egg).
@ 10am - about two cups of grapes
@ 1pm - tuna sandwich with sliced tomato, boiled egg (white only)
@ 3pm - 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese with about 6 peach slices (w/o syrup)
@ 6pm - 1/2 cup popcorn, 1/2 cup sunflower seeds (daughters softball game :)
@ 8pm - about 8oz lean steak on the grill, medium baked potato
@ 10pm - 1 cup cottage cheese with peaches again

I'll have 2-3 cups of coffee before 10am or so, then it's water through the day with maybe a diet coke at lunch and a glass of tea or two around supper time. Breakfast varies from the above to maybe a big bowl of cereal or oatmeal with fruit. Lunch might be a salad with tuna or chicken in it. The in betweens concsit of a variety of fruits or veggies.

I'm at the gym roughly from 5:30am to 6:30 am every weekday doing weights on M,Tu,Th,F and cardio on Wed. Although this week I did cardio on Tu & Th

THANKS AGAIN

Hi there!

I've been using this: on my dry skin and I'm really impressed with it. It has only olive oil and beeswax. It smells mildly of beeswax so it's not perfume-y at all. I can't recommend it enough.

to me it sounds like low fat intake. you want 25-30% of your daily calories to come from fat, some saturated, mostly unsaturated.

most likely, you're lacking omega 3's, as these only really come from fish oils or flaxseed oil (i recommend fish oil)

Other lotions to try are Udder Cream (I used this on my feet and it made a big improvement, I first heard of it when my wife's vascular surgeon suggested she try if after her vein stripping surgery), and Aveeno (both the lotion and the liquid soap). I found the Aveeno lotion superior to anything I have tried and I tried just about everything over the years.
