Droping The Weight Before A Wedding

Snow,

We are pretty much in the same exact boat!!!
weddings at the same time, and about the same amount of weight to lose.
Lets do it girl!!
Totally! I wish I could start exercising this week, but I am sick (again!). I swear, every time I try to start a weight loss or work out plan I get sick and am thwarted. I'm doing the best I can though to watch my diet and calorie intake to make up for it for now.

have you gotten your dress yet? now that I have mine I know exactly what parts of my body need to be toned.

believe it or not I hated vegetables up until about 6 months ago. I started forcing myself to eat them so i could lose weight. I make two different kinds with dinner every night so i feel like i get to eat more with hardly any more calories! You can find any kind of workout video you want on youtube, so I have been experimenting with all sorts of stuff. its fun! I like belly dancing videos.
any other ideas?

Hey Gals,
Great club idea. I'm sure there are a lot of us out there. Especially when wedding dress sizes tend to fit smaller than regular dresses! LOL!

I'm getting married in the summer of 2009. I want to get rid of a bit of weight. It definitely can make finding sample dresses on sale and consignment gowns a lot easier. There are a lot more smaller sizes than larger ones. And I need the money... the more money I save the better! I graduate from grad school a month before the wedding, so money is tight. I guess the less money I spend on food, the more I can spend on the dress!! Sounds like a good trade off.

Best of Luck to you all.

I have not gotten my dress yet. I wanted to wait a few months to see if I lost weight, but it's only 5 months away so I think I had better start looking. I can have it taken in at the last minute, hopefully:)

I need to do better with vegetables. I hardly ever eat them. I like them, but just never cook them. Belly dancing is SO fun. I went to a class once--it only had one session, bu it was still really fun. My cough is practically gone now, so I'd better start exercising! You have inspired me with vegetables. I am going to eat some every day now.

Linzee. I love your dress. It looks perfect on you. Screw the "hot bridesmaid" you were definitely one "hot bride"!! Who's the designer of the dress? Is it satin with a chiffon overlay? It right up my alley.

TIP: Buy a dress with a corsetted back that fits as you are now (not done up too tightly). You can easily bring the dress in a size by tightening the corset ties. This way you can minimize the amount you might need to take it in. This is my plan if I end up finding a dress I really want before I am finished losing weight.

ya that dress is really pretty!!

my biggest thing to stress about for my wedding is planning it from so far away. I am having a destination wedding, so I have to pick all of the table linens, plates, etc. over the phone!! i hate that! otherwise, it will be easy (0nly 30 people attending).

does anyone else have family members/friends that are not sympathetic to your diet? My future sister in law is going to be my maid of honor, and she says she wants to lose weight too( she's about 200 lbs). The trouble is that every time I visit her, she wants to get fast food or coldstone or something.

its frustrating! Im like "you know I want to lose weight, so stop trying to get me to eat bad things!!" I think it makes her feel better when she eats unhealthy foods if someone else is doing it with her.

any thoughts?

Hey all,

Congratulations on your special occasions. I am in the same loop. My wedding is on July 12, 2008 and I am desperately trying to shed 40 lbs before that....

I have a hectic schedule on the job so I hit the gym in the morning and workout for approx 60 mins of cardio everyday. I am trying to maintain a diet of 1200 calories also. But I am ashamed to say I cheated today :blush5: Didn't gym at all and feeling really bad.

I need all the support cos when it comes to motivation my cup is always empty. Counting on all you guys....H E L P!

Cheers

Great - just what i need

:hurray:thank goodness someone has started this club. it will be great to have some support on my wedding diet. i am getting married end of march 2009 and i have three stone to lose. have lost 8 pounds in past two and half weeks which i am glad with. i have always followed weight watchers but this time i have decided to count calories which i feel is working for me aswell as drinking three to four pints of water a day. Lets all work together!!!

hey! and welcome to both of you.
I think we are all feeling the pressure to look our absolute BEST on the most important day of our lives coming up, so lets get going! I think motivation is the biggest thing we all need from each other, so WE CAN DO IT!!!

eat lots of veggies today!:hurray:

The truth of the matter is you're on your own. That's the way it really is. I have it two-fold. I have people that will eat terrible around me and then I have my mother who buys the bad food and then says "are you sure you should eat that". There is almost nothing worse than being told not to do something! In reality, we got our selves into this trouble and we have to pull ourselves out of it.

Now mind you, I live alone about 12 hours from my mother, so I can keep my irritation at bay. However, this summer I will be moving back in with my parents for four months and I know it won't be easy. I'm trying to gear myself up for it.

If you let people know you are losing weight, they might be more sensitive and aware, but you must be prepared to fend for yourself. If someone suggests getting fast food, suggest a healthier alternative and tell them its your treat (as long as you can afford to do it once in a while). If someone you live with cooks unhealthy, tell them that you'd like to give them a break and cook them dinner for a change. This way you can cook the way you feel is comfortable. If you make people feel like their getting a favor, they are more likely to accommodate what you want. Reverse psychology and self preservation, my friend. When I go to a party (or potluck), I'll bring something healthy. This way you're doing the host or hostess a favor by bringing something AND you've got "fall-back" food in case there is too much unhealthy stuff.

That's my 2-cents. Its tough so good Luck!

I totally agree, and although my sister in law wants to still eat fast food, she tells me that I inspire her because of my conviction to stay on track.

In my eyes I have no choice but to lose weight. My dress does NOT have a corset back, so if I dont fit in it I am SOL. :)

Thanks a lot liddieloo and thanks for the tip too. I have started incorporating a lot of veggies in my diet. Apart from that, I am working out too. Today I made it a point to go to the gym in the morning. Woo Hoo :hurray:

And one more point I realized: Drink loads of water!

hey bling, july 12 2008 is the day the wedding that i'm gonna be in is on! so that's when i have to be skinny by too hehe...

Great to hear it Linzee. Now I have a partner with whom I can match my goals :) I need to shed 40 lbs in four months....is that achievable?

It feels nice being someone else's inspiration!! But it still makes it hard when they contribute to the problem.

Just curious, does you dress fit you right now? Its such a toss up whether or not to get the snug dress and lose weight to fit it. I know they always say not to buy a dress with the hopes of losing weight, but it sure helps the motivation! I'm sure you'll do it because you seem committed!

ya, I took the chance and got a size 10 dress that I csn zip up, but barely. it is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery tight. the skirt is free flowing, so it is only tight around the midsection. I am confident that I will fit nicely into it soon :)

I got my dress! It's so beautiful. It's being ordered, not to arrive until may so I'll have plenty of time to lose weight before I am measured for altering.

This is it:

I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't even go out looking at dresses until I reach 160. I'm almost there....
