So I just found out something that really sucks... you can't rest too much as a runner or you lose progress.
My calves are still sore, I didn't do any exercise yesterday, but I did a bit of jogging (mostly walking) for 30 minutes just to do some form of movement today. Only 1.7 miles. Apparently if you rest your legs when they're building muscle, the muscle goes away within a week and you have to do it all over again,
I read a study once of these out of shape people who exercised with running for a month and got in decent shape, and then stopped exercising for a month, and reverted all the way back to where they were from the beginning. That scares me. If I take a break because I'm not feeling well I'll lose progress! It only means I have to push through the mean man in my mind telling me to sloth it and let myself be sick... others have pushed through it so I can too. I just don't want to.
Had half a klondike bar instead of a full one... kind of felt accomplished there, also am never buying pop-tarts again because they are my kryptonite.
