Drinking and Excercise

Hey all, i am slightly confused. Some of my friends are serious athletes, but they drink alcohol and smoke weed ALOT. But it doesnt seem like their performances are failing. I dont drink or smoke because i want to keep my workouts as best as possible, but it seems, that even by drinking and smoking, they are still doing fine with excercise. In the least sciency terms possible, what are the effects of overdrinking or smoking too much weed? Ok thanks.
 
just think what kind of shape they'd be in if they didn't drink or smoke weed :eek: alcohol saps your energy and anything you smoke kills your lung capacity over the longterm...take it from a longtime smoker like me-no running on the treadmill for me anymore, can't get enough air in!

ya drinkin is pretty bad for working out. But i cant help it, i go out one night a week and get smashed :)

what sucks is when u drink and ur all hungover the next day, ur workouts go to ****. and ur diet is terrible becuase either u sucked down so much food the night before, or ur too hungover to eat the next day.

DRINKIN SUCKS! heheheh
